We had a few very hot days and I am glad to say that AC kept up. It was consistently not great throughout, but it did not perform worse as it got hotter outside. I set it on Auto and seats on full cool. If I set fan manually to max speed, it cools much better but then I have to constantly fiddle with the fan. I think the underlying issue is Auto mode is not that intelligent.

White does help things cooler, it’s a thing about the principle of light reflectivity and the different waves (uv, infrared, visible light). But I don’t know how much of an impact it will have if the rest of the car is black. Or if the windows aren’t tinted.

Blowing cold isn't the issue.. Tested at the dealer down to 42 degrees at the vent. IN FRONT. if you have passengers in the rear and take about 10 to 15 minutes to cool down the cab..but it does not keep up. Went to the dealer second time same results..blowing 42 degrees at the vent. Even the tech said it took 45 minutes of full blast ac to cool it down.

When I lived in the desert, I had to park on the off-site parking lot with no shade. Car would get so hot you couldn't touch surfaces. To help with that, I had windshield sunscreen and driver's seat cover made out of white sheet. It made A LOT of difference in how hot the car would get.

I no longer live in such hot climate, but I still purchased weathertech sun screen for my 4Runner, unfortunately it isn't great fit so I don't recommend buying that one, but it does make car much cooler inside when it is parked outside during the day.

My 24 is cold but the air flow is weak. I’ve been wondering if you can replace with a stronger blower or something

Is there any spec for what temp the air should be as it leaves the vents?

You're under warranty. Take it in to the dealer and have it looked at. My 5 day old 2024 SR5 A/C is working fine. (My wife is an A/C freak) Me, not so much. SoCal. Temp today will hit 80 in San Diego

I replaced my OEM Cabin filter after the first year and was surprised how dirty it was. I paid a crazy amount for this genuine Toyota filter and have since stocked up on some aftermarket cabin filters. This is the only FILTER that I am not using a genuine Toyota part in the future. The Toyota CABIN air filter was nothing special IMO. That said, the Toyota Engine air filter (about the same price) was of high quality and I will continue buying those at the dealership.

I know this post is about A/C, and the only thing I can see different about OP’s situation from my own is the number of people in the 4 Runner. I guess body heat could really bring up the temp and make it hard to cool down. I got rid of my 22 Lexus ES350 Ultra Luxury (which I special ordered during the pandemic and paid full MSRP) because Lexus had changed the seat design to one that was as hard as a rock and no longer comfortable. If OP’s 4Runner is blowing 42 at the vent, then maybe a 4Runner isn’t a good fit for their family.

I was just in Vegas and it was 109. I had to keep the auto at 74 also or it would be too cold. I do have a quality ceramic tint on all of the glass, so that may be making a difference.
