So they screwed the pooch with the cargo area. Wonder if it's really a 120 lb capacity for the whole area or just that small panel he popped off for the hidden storage?

Also never thought about the batteries as being precariously placed under a cooler that may leak or a dog that may pee - will it short out or burst into flames? Guess a good waterproof mat in the back would mitigate that issue.

Premium fuel? Wondering if these same issues will be on the 6th gen (I assume yes).

Was thinking about this as an option to replace the JGC in the future but if I can't load luggage in the back for a road trip because of the weight then I'll have to look elsewhere

I seriously doubt that there is a limit of only 120 lbs in the cargo area. As far a premium fuel, all turbo gas engines require premium but many people run regular with no real issue except some power loss.

I looked it up and the payload is 1688 lbs.

There's another thread where a member recently purchased one. The sticker clearly says 60 kg for the panel - I'm just not sure which panel (or is it all?). Looks like there is a thin hidden panel near the door, two small panels on each side, and I assume a large panel over the batteries

Edit: grabbed link to there thread

If the weight limit is for the panel over the batteries, there could be an opportunity for aftermarket vendors to create mods that would support more, although probably at the cost of eating more space. It might make sense as part of drawer system, for example.
