    RSG sliders, Falken Wildpeak 265/70R/17 E
    I've seen two opposing recommendations to prep bolts for use on frame-mounted sliders.

    1. Blue loctite
    2. Anti-seize

    I'm in the rust belt, so my inclination is to go for anti-seize and re-torque now and then. Which would you do in this scenario and why?

    I'd go anti seize. Never retorqued any of my slider bolts as they don't seem to back out.

    If I was worried about that I suppose I could do locking washers + anti seize

    I put anti-seize on mine. Keep in mind, with anti-seize, your torque numbers will be off. While I doubt it matters much at the torque values for sliders, you'll set the torque wrench for LESS than the recommended torque value. About 25% if I remember correctly.

    3. Cosmoline, because it displaces water and offers better corrosion protection than anti-seize.

    Interested in that.

    I used fluid film on the frame where the sliders bolt too. A ton of it... also got in the threaded holes I'm sure.

    It's been a couple years and I haven't removed my sliders.

    It'd be smart to drop all the skids and sliders. Clean everything. Repaint skids. Fluid film and reinstall armor...
    Need to find time for that

    No. Fluid Film attracts sand & dust, so it'll turn into grimy dirt between the frame and sliders. I used FF for one year on my Tacoma (trail rig) and regretted it, been using cosmoline exclusively on the truck since.

    FF definitely does that. But I imagine it makes a decent anti seize in pinch? I could be wrong.

    My only experience with cosmoline is cleaning old surplus rifles. The smell is horrible...

    Is modern cosmoline less pungent and available in spray form?

    Biggest pluses to FF is cost and availability. Fluid filming every 6 months to a year helps a lot. But it definitely grabs dirt and makes working under your truck a mess...

    ^Yes FF is a decent anti-seize. Spray around the hub register so brake rotors and wheels don't seize to it. I use FF on my 4Runner frame, the 4Runner being a highway crawler. Tacoma gets cosmoline because it goes off road. I prefer the petroleum smell of cosmoline over the fishy smell of FF.

    CRC Marine P/N 06026 (US) 76026 (Canuckistan) is very similar. I've used RP-342 and CRC Marine interchangeably over the years. The CRC spray nozzle has a nice wide pattern but can't accept a straw. I kept a FF nozzle with straw for crevices.

    On my Tacoma yes. One application of cosmoline is good for a few years (you'd touch up trail scars before each winter). If you DIY, wear a mask and cap (like shower cap) as cosmoline from rattlecan is very volatile and has a lot of outgassing when sprayed.
