When I test drove the 2024 4Runner, I got to see and experience the blind spot warning light on the side mirror when I was about to change lanes to my right. Small blinking light on the side mirror correct? Is there a setting or adjustment to make that warning an audible one?

Plans are to pick up my 4Runner tomorrow. I've already let the dealership know I expect to be in and out of there in one hour....before my ADD kicks in. I'm serious, if I have to wait around for longer than 20 minutes to start the paperwork process I am going to walk. I've already been pre-approved and am coming in with a substantial down payment.

Did you turn the wheel at all when the warning light was on? I think it beeps if you turn the wheel in the direction of an active warning light.

No, I think I actually turned the wheel in the opposite direction. Lots to learn! Tomorrow is the big day. First new vehicle for me in 17 years!

Bob, Congrats and good luck from Arizona! Don't let a crappy salesman ruin your experience. Remember, you're buying the 4Runner, not the salesman.

    Oooh look, another mod.....
There's an option to turn on an "audible" alert. I forget if it's in the head unit, or in the center gauge cluster. Now that I think about it, I'm pretty sure it's the center gauge cluster. Just use the thumb controls on the steering wheel (the one on the right), and arrow over & down to the preferred setting.

When you get your truck, post pictures of it. We'd love to see whatcha' bought.

Thanks a bunch! I definitely will post photos. I've been eyeballing a 4Runner for many years. I'm "coming over" from 20 years of owning Tacomas. My current 06 Tacoma with 191,000 miles has been great. Same V6 4.0
That's a good reason I am picking up the 2024 4Runner. And what the hell, it's Father's Day!

I don't believe there is a way to have an audible alert for BSM (unless something changed in 2024).

The BSM pages in the manual only reference the light blinking. In the customization, there is only changes for brightness and sensitivity. Different trim levels may have more options.

You're right. I was thinking of the Rear Cross Traffic Alert. THAT you can turn the audible on or off. But with BSM, it's either off or on, but no sound.

My interpretation of the manual is that you can enable or disable BSM as whole, but you don't have control over the behavior of sounds when it is enabled. You can't make it beep upon someone entering or leaving the blind spot, but by the same token, you can't stop it from beeping if you turn towards an occupied blind spot if BSM is enabled.

Ya. Could be. I'll have to try it with my wife beside me so I don't freak someone out merging toward them to check if it beeps or not. :)

That's a better way to test it than I've come up with so far.

That's how it works on my wife's 2019 Camry.
