My soon beloved 2015 Tacoma Prerunner with 137K has been totaled due to hail. Next week I’m looking for a new ride. Hopefully I’ll stay in the 4.0L family except this time with dual VVT, lol. I’m lucky enough to get 21K from the insurance as a down payment. Don’t know which modle to get. I don’t see myself getting hardcore into offroading. 99.9% mall crawling. Which modle is a good well balanced. Don’t necessarily need a base model but don’t really care about the Pro model. I can always add stuff to it if need be. I had a TRD catback on the Tacoma which was nice but I hear they suck on the 4 Runner. How about the TRD intake? Or just use a AFE Prodry air filter drop in. I used one on my Tacoma. Thanks.

The TRD exhaust is worse on the Runner because you don't have that separation from the cab. None of these mods really do anything except make noise like in the Tacoma.

Thank you. How’s the ride in your TRD premium?

My Pro has the TRD exhaust and it doesn't bother me or my wife at all. There are a few points in the RPM range in certain gears where there is a bit of drone, but also zero noise at other points.

Miles better than my Tacoma was but my friend with a SR5 says it's stiffer than his. I do have KDSS but it shouldn't affect the ride.

Ouch, sorry to hear. I'm in the Colorado area and terrified to park anywhere during May-July. It seems anywhere in the Denver area is capable of getting hit.
