What have you done to your 5th Gen 4Runner today?

Well I did this small install... Its not like the guy above this that took apart his whole inside of his 4Runner.. But its a close second! LOL J/K

 

2024 TRD Off Road Premium
17" TRD Rims
Stock Tires: 265/70R17"

Today I replaced the stock 265's with BFG All Terrain 275/70R 17". I ran 285/70R 17" On our 2004 Tundra TRD 4x4 for 20 years. Ten years of that was in Baja Calif Sur. On the Tundra we ran 32psi without wear issues. On this new 4runner we will run 30psi.

Mounted the tires and do not have any clearance or rubbing issues.

Used Toyotacare for the only time for my 20k service. Dont think they screwed anything up, but had a long trip coming up and my usual shop couldnt get me in. Hopefully this 1 free oil change and rotation doesnt cost me more down the line

 

Daggum!! Looks like you essentially have both rear tires off the ground in one of those shots - that's badass!

 

Put a Harbor Freight Haul-Master roof-mounted steel cargo carrier on backwards, then took it off. Sorry, no pics.

Yeah exactly She's a bit stressed out but I had to do it slowly - by that I mean I installed rock slider steps which she liked. And then did a lift and wheels and tires which freaked her out but she liked and bot a lot of compliments. From there she was asking - when are you going to get around to the front bumper and roof rack? and then when that was done she got more compliments......she didn't want me messing with the stereo but after all the other mods it gave me the credibility to get the buy off to do this.

 

I had the same feeling last time I took mine for the free oil change. I just feel very dirty being in the dealership, their whole way of doing service business model screams ripoff to me.

 

It's weird how that changes from place to place. The Parts Department at the nearest Toyota dealership is a comfortable place, but I have to walk past an unoccupied pack of hungry predators to get there. However, the Service department at my Subaru dealership is surprisingly decent. I think they have a disproportionate number of certified techs.

 

The sales guys at this one arent too bad. I didnt get in it but took a walk around the new LC in the showroom while I was waiting. I had one guy do a driveby asking me what I thought, and I said "for this and $5k I'll sell you my 4runner" He laughed and that was that from sales. Somehow after an oil change and tire rotation I ended up with a loose running board though. Didnt find anything else wrong but that wasnt confidence boosting.

 

We love Merus Adventure! Thats the best place in Texas to off road, in my opinion!

 

Agreed. That's why I keep coming back to Merus.

The weather is tough in the panhandle and it will certainly test your equipment. The trails are as tough as you want them to be. Meaning you have the easy green/ blue trails all the way to some very gnarly black or double black trails.

I was wheeling along side a custom 350 swapped Tacoma on 40's. These trails even tested his rig quite a bit. Very fun stuff.

 

Did my first time off road with fully(?) Stock orm 4 runner. Bought a rig a month ago and have long scratch like snake from passenger side door handle thru back of the tail light.

Went to Tahuya OHV park and got lost and it was very windy and we met no one along the trails. By the time me and my wife started to worry little bit we met a owner of classic land cruiser owner(don't even know which edition but it was very classy) and he guided us out of trail.

Feel sad but feel good at the same time. Didn't have to pay the money for the new mark.

 

Scratched the crap out of it! Won't be the last time but the first one's hurt a little.

Sweet! We are good friends with the Merus Staff and trail guides. They always treat us right and we enjoy wheeling and camping in the canyon with our 4Runners and Tacoma!

A very flat tire after a 14-hour shift.



That won't come out, as if a burr were keeping it from being pulled out. So I shoved it in and patched the tire to find a Llanteria the next day.



Huh, how did that get in there? The amount of force must have been incredible.

 

I'd rather have a few pinstripes on the truck than not find out what's around the corner.
