    Howdy all!

I've been doing some lurking around here as I've been kicking around buying a 4Runner for quite some time. With the teaser of the new gen, I'm almost assuredly going to make the plunge.

Would be curious of everyones thoughts! I do love the styling of both the 5th and 6th gen - my main interest in the 2025 MY is all of the "upgrades" - tech, engine, etc. But I'm also skeptical of being a beta tester of a new model.

Would love your thoughts! Purchasing a 2024 is of course an option, then throwing the difference at "modernizing" it.

    Cheers from Illinois!

Exactly. I have a feeling the deciding factor will be price. If I can get a 2024 TRD OR or similar for a reasonable price, I'd rather throw the thousands in savings towards gussying it up. Time will tell! I'll be in the market after my wedding in October (hopefully with the 6th gen available for purchase by then!)

We’ve had the conversation many times, and her consensus is a big ol “IDGAF” - as long as we can afford it, she wants me to have what I want. She’s a keeper ;)

    Cheers all. Happy weekend!

I got a 24 now, with intent to reevaluate after a year or two of the 6g being out. My concern was, you can only wait so long before new 24s are no more, but they are never really going to lose a lot of value, so you can always buy one now and then sell it for a 26 or later if the 6th Gen turns it to be stellar.

This is definitely a possibility, but we’re getting married this year. With the wedding and honeymoon in October, the smart choice is to wait and see what the total damage is there, then move forward with the purchase. The goal is to keep my total debts at 0 (excluding the mortgage and a car note). I don’t mind picking up a like-new 24 if I have to. There’s always plenty of used 4Runners out here, and I don’t mind traveling for it if I have to.

Well if the goal is to be at zero debt, keep what you got now. Even if you are lucky enough to be able to pay cash for a new 4R and don't consider that "debt" since it's nothing owed, you are still minus $48,000 in your savings.

This is sound advice for sure, but the current vehicle is both impractical for our future plans and brings me no joy. Both of which are worth an upgrade.
