    Hi all,
    I am new to this thread. I purchased a 1999 4Runner a few years ago and fell in love with it. I was impressed with how solid it was and the interior was simple with no frills. Unfortunately I had to get rid of it after a couple of years as there were some repairs we just could not justify spending the money on. My son started driving in November 2023 at which time I gave him my Silverado. I knew we would need to buy another vehicle so I began the search for another 4Runner. I bought my current 2001 4Runner in November 2023 with 163,000 miles, interior is in great shape, engine runs great and the body has no rust, It could use a paint job but other than that it looks good. I consider the mileage to be fairly low since I've seen these go for 300,000+ miles. I'm looking forward to keeping this SUV for a very long time.

    Welcome! Three things that come to mind. Check the frame for rust, replace the timing belt if it hasn't been done (includes water pump and idlers), and replace the radiator if it hasn't been done. Oh, and replace the $20 alternator brushes.
