The oil passage into the bearing cap is very small, less than 1/4” typically where it enters the cap. And even if it didn’t plug, having debris enter the bearing would be almost as bad.

But just like everyone else here I am guessing/speculating.

    lol what cluster f.

bunch of new hires at the ‘bama plant to fast track engine builds

    roll tide!

    https://youtu.be/wq0pNOQKY4E?si=JmYBcXHWXoi66RFG

the guy makes a rational point that Japan and bama built engines all are part of this recall. Yota lies.. very little chance both sites suffer this metal shaving issues.

What a nightmare for Toyota. Would love to have been sitting in those meetings. Still wondering if it's an engineering problem, materials problem, or build problem.

Replace all the engines and cost them billions.. I love both outcomes

Have you considered therapy to help resolve this hatred you seem to have for Toyota?

Wanting them to resolve the problem is fair, but your posts read like a bitter divorcee trying to get revenge on an ex who cheated.

Ok, fair point… I made a mistake and missed that you were talking about the other engine. I’ll retract the comment.

I think it is management problem. Look at connected services they are trying to force into every car. This anti-consumer behavior is not accidental.

Similarly, I think Toyota decided to abandon Toyota-way of conservative (and reliable) design they are known for and chase new tech. Perhaps they think that is the only way they going to get past planned ICE bans of 2030s. I personally think that these would be postponed by decades.

My neighbor has a Tundy involved in the recall. Told me last night they’re discussing three options - motor rebuild, motor replacement or market value offer for the entire….frickin…truck.

I would take the market value. The market value of a tundra might be pretty low right now though.

Now they are recalling 145,000 Grand Highlanders and Lexus TX for some airbag issues. WTF.

One-at-this-price stripper. Bought new 34 yrs ago, a $13K leftover. Added Detroit TruTrac, 1”rear spring spacer and “pinstripes”… Factory AC kit and roof rack bought at dealer cost at time of purchase, still blows ice cold 32yrs later. 2022 AG ORP all stock.
Every time I drive my base-stripped/zero option 22RE 4R I breathe a relaxed sigh knowing it doesn’t have all the complicated “luxuries” that my 22 has and certainly the 6th gen will have to deal with. Sometimes less is better.

Damn, I would take market value in a hurry.

What a crazy situation for Toyota.

Yeah, I mean…sounds like a no-brainer, right? For those who don’t have a loan on one, maybe. But what if… a person bought a brand new Tundy….now this happened…and that offer makes them upside down or even barely whole. So much to consider, right? Then there’s the time without a truck. Loaner vehicle? Who’s knows.‍♂️
