Going on a big trip in a month. I’ll be doing a fair share of asphalt and moderate trails in my moderately lifted 2020 KDSS Off Road. Bilstein 6112/5160s w/ a fresh set of 33” Toyo RT Trails. I’m currently working on my 50k service interval. Aside from that work are there any good pre-trip checklists I should be working through? Things specific to the 5th gen. I should be inspecting?

I already made a spreadsheet to track miles and how much I spend on gas and accessories...

I plan to make a spreadsheet showing all the routine maint intervals and when I do them...

watching this thread for other ideas

    thanks OP

Just make sure bolts touched on the install are tight but otherwise have fun.

If you have a 5th gen with 50k miles, that's about all you need to know. Buy gas and have fun.

I would check battery. For me 3 years is my confidence level.

I'd check belts, wipers and underhood electrical connections. Battery as previously mentioned
Do an under vehicle check for loose/missing fasteners or obvious fluid leaks. Check your spare tire for secure mounting and pressure (I like to bring my spare up to about 50# even though I run at about 33-35#).

Be safe and have some fun!

Wiper blades for sure - front and back (OEM would be my suggestion). Other than that, a 50k mile 5th Gen is still a baby. Have fun!

When I’m prepping for a long family roadtrip, my checklist (same on any car):

    -Service is up to date.
    - Check all fluid levels, inc. making sure washer fluid is full
    - Check all tire pressures, including spare

Thats it. Modern cars, the 4R in particular, are pretty darn reliable so not much else to do.

Beyond what's already been said, I'd double-check my lists of tools, recovery gear, and camping gear.

Ask and you shall receive! I reached out to Eric Ross at Sierra Mechanica, one of the instructors at the Rocky Mountain Toyota Roundup, the event I’m attending in Colorado, and he sent me this, which will be sent to all the attendees coming nationwide.

Surprised there haven’t been any YouTube how-to videos on checklists. Running through one like this for the 4Runner would get lots of views. Hinting to someone more knowledgeable than me.
