So....long version of the story goes....I met up with my buddy a couple miles from a hiking trail head in case there wasn't going to be much parking. On the way out I see some water on the side of the road. My buddy does not like going off road and gets scared by this sorta thing so I dash off the road and start driving into this little creak thing. Turns out its mud. Not only much but real deep, rocky, terrible mud. I start getting stuck so throw it in 4wd and keep going forward. Get more stuck, put it in 4WL and put the crawl control on. Got very stuck....

He hitches a ride in a jeep to go get his truck so we can winch off it. The person owning the jeep rightfully is making fun of me, even asks for a picture of my and the 4runner which I happily oblige.

Buddy gets back with his F150. Winch remote batteries are dead. We try to used some climbing rope but my tow points on my bumper were too sharp and I didn't have soft shackles so the ripe kept snapping.

We drive to buy a USB cord to power the remote.

Winch her out. CRAZY steering wheel vibration at 25 mph. get to a gas station and scoop mud and rocks out of the wheels.

lot of fail all around. But I was sitting on my skid plates and rock sliders and they were doing what they were supposed to.

I'm glad you got out ok, but I don't suppose your buddy became any more enthusiastic about off-roading. :p

Yeah, the difference is that most here would have offered to pull them out while obtaining the picture...why didn't Jeep guy do that?

I didn't ask because I didn't want to break anything on the jeep. figured if a tow ring broke i could pay to have my buddy's fixed. And also didn't want to hold them up any longer than needed. And they didn't offer.

The Jeep may not have weighed enough anyway. Whatever is heavier/stuck is likely to stay in one place as the other vehicle is pulled toward it instead of the 4Runner being pulled out. Better to use the F150 as an anchor than something that weighs less.

I don't see how/where the winch was used. Looks like you pulled out with some paracord. :)

I was thinking the same. F150 would be a way better anchor. My F150 buddy was actually thrilled about the extraction. When we were using the climbing rope initially he was so stoked at how easily the truck was pulling the 4runner out. We almost had it, until the rope kept snapping.

Lmao I really need to get my reading comprehension checked

Thought you typed your winch kept snapping so you went and bought a USB cord to try and pull with that...

That F150 probably barely outweighs the 4Runner. I had a 2015 crew cab with the 5.0 and weight as delivered was under 5200lb, an armored up 4Runner has got to be over 5,000lb. Then again, I have no idea how much a Jeep weighs. But my point stands, almost anyone here would have offered more help than a ride (it might have been refused but we would have offered).

Since you quoted me, I'll respond. My point wasn't about the weight of the 4R vs F150, but that the Jeep probably weighs less than the 4R.

@Acesandeights you and I were very much on the exact same page for the weight thing. Didn't want to be dragging the jeep.
