    I was led to make this account due to having a mystery mechanical issue, like Im sure many others have.

    I picked up a 2001 SR5 2WD Automatic with 201K from a buddy last October for an absolute steal, and it's been my daily ever since, and it's genuinely the best car ive owned. It's sitting at 211k miles right now, so it's gotten some use.

    I'm not big into off roading, and I'm trying to make this car last through college, so I doubt I will be doing any mods or anything cool with it.

    Still, I am glad that these forums exist, and I wish a great day to everyone.

    Welcome! What's your mystery mechanical issue?

    There are a few maintenance items that will leave you stranded if you neglect them, and if they haven't been done recently. Timing belt replacement (the complete job includes water pump and idler pulleys), radiator replacement (this can destroy the transmission and leave you with an almost-worthless truck), and alternator brush replacement (simple and only $20, will help your alternator run another 150k+ miles) are a few that come to mind.
