I have a 2000 sr5 2wd with 173,000 on it. The left rear wheel bearing is leaking. My mechanic is going to replace with a hub that includes all the bearings. Is it better do that or let another shop just use all the old hud with all new bearings? Also I guess I should change the right side too before it starts leaking. The last question is the axle bearing different from the wheel bearing and where is that located. Thank you.

I haven't done my rear axles...but there isn't a hub, is there? You pull the rear axle and replace the axle (aka wheel) bearing. Then do the other side. Done.

    Right?

Hubs are a newer thing. I'm thinking your mechanic needs to take another look.
