Enjoying a nice family vacation visiting Yellowstone, Grand Tetons and Glacier national parks. We flew since we didn’t have extra days to make the drive, but I’m missing my 4Runner as I drive around a rented minivan. No exaggeration when I say that every 4th or 5th vehicle we pass while driving through the parks is a 5th gen 4Runner! I think they might be popular rental vehicles out here, but definitely a lot of owned ones as well as I’ve seen almost every color/configuration available.

On a ski trip to Jackson Hole a few years ago there were rental 4R's and owned 4R's everywhere. My son attends Montana State in Bozeman and there are a ton of 4R's and Tacoma's on the roads. Very popular out west for sure!

Tons of 4Rs in Jackson. Most TRD Pro's we've ever seen in one place. We had our TRD Pro out there in May and fit right in. But you'll also notice that Jackson has more than anywhere else basically all the hard-to-get hardcore stuff out there. Tons of Raptors, TRX's, 4Rs inc TRD Pros, Tacos, Subie Wilderness, etc. Also all the coolest overlanding gear, including RTTs, which you don't see that often elsewhere but common out there.

But at the end of the day, when it's below zero with a foot of snow and you're on some road in the middle of nowhere, not too many cars i'd trust over the 4R. I think that's a big reason why they're so popular out in WY and MT. When you need something reliable and can't fck around.

I suspected that was the main reason as well. Not really the most comfortable place to break down.

Beautiful picture and I think one of my favorite colors for the 4Runner! We started at the Grand Tetons, then Yellowstone and are finishing up in Glacier national park. My first time out West and the most amazing landscape I have ever seen.

Yellowstone National Park is one of my favorite if not my favorite places to visit. I have gone nearly every year since 2012 and have been lucky enough to visit during every season. Last year I visited in the fall for the first time and it is by far my favorite season. It was also my first major trip in my 23 ORP.

Cooked most of meals right out of my rig, at pull outs or parking lots. Spent several mornings in Lamar watching the wolves and bears, listening to the elks bugle and the wolves howl through the fog was pretty incredible.

Got a little snow and a couple of overcast days but it was really beautiful weather the rest of the time.

Nice! Is that table as useful and simple as it looks?

My wife and I honeymooned in Yellowstone and Glacier in 1985, and for the next 11 years, minus maybe one year. It's like home to us. We were able to go one more time in 2012. Want to go back some more. Dash up to Glacier one time if you haven't done so yet.

The table is supper simple to setup and take down and so far I have found it to be very stable. I like the simplicity of the table and the two stoves I use. I have found with a little planning I can cook almost anything I would want while camping with a 1 burner Coleman stove and just a single pan. The biolite stove is great for cooking thinner strips of meat for tacos or hot dogs and they do have a fairly extensive recipe library online.

I have been up to glacier a few times but Yellowstone feels like a second home to me. I’m hopping to get back there again this fall.
