Stickers on your 4runner?

Being new to the 4runner community, I'm curious about all the stickers and patches that I see on a bunch of 4runners. Just wondering if your 4runners has to actually drive through, say a National Park, before you can display a park sticker. I'm almost 69 years young and getting started late in the off-roading/ Overlanding life style. So......I've been to several National Parks through the years. What exactly is the policy on stickers?

Stickers on the 4R are either liked by folks, or strongly disliked haha

Nah you don’t have to drive through the parks in order to validate having the sticker on your truck. But it is a good rule to follow; only stick on decals of brands you actually have installed on the truck, or only decals from places you’ve actually visited. These days you can buys stickers online of national parks you’ve visited, so you don’t have to go back lol.

The rear windows are are safe place to start for locating stickers.
If you stick decals on painted surfaces, beware of the HATERS

Thanks for the reply. Yea, I'm too old too start revisiting all the National Parks I've traveled to through the years.

 

I would never put stickers on paint or glass. They will eventually "burn" shadows and images onto the surface.

 

I think most 4R owners have started moving away from stickers and are going to permanent tattoos. The harder the trail, the higher on the neck or face the tattoo goes.

I did a ton of traveling during Covid and got stickers for all of the places i went. Didn't want to deface my truck, but still wanted to represent. This is the best trade off, inside the hatch lip:

 

I was waiting for someone to bring that up. Perfect spot for stickers!
And patches go on the ceiling

Presently, I only have 3 stickers on my T4R, all USAF related. On the hitch cover is a sticker honoring the Air Force Communications Command. Some friends of ours have a daughter in the USAF Communications Command.

On the right rear side glass I have a sticker for the 180th Fighter Wing, (F-16s) out of Ohio. Our nephew is a crew chief for the F-16C in the 180th.

On the left rear side glass I have a sticker for the USAF Air Combat Command. Our neighbors have a son who flys the B-1B out of Dyess Air Force Base, Abilene, TX. In April, 2023, we went to Dyess AFB and he gave us the grand tour. He took me up in to the cockpit of one of the B-1Bs. A thrill I will never forget.

 

Currently have 2 stickers and what’s left of the dealership decal we took off. My wife would have it covered if I let her, we have tons of stickers.

 

If I see a sticker that I like, I find a place for it.

I 'spose I should show this one, also.

 

I’d like to place a “bumper sticker” on my rear tailgate glass that says something like: “Don’t Laugh. It’s Paid For”. We just paid off my 2022 T4R last month. I think about doing it, but in reality it’s just not me, lol. We used to see that sticker a lot in years past, mainly on clunker junkers, but I haven’t seen that bumper sticker in ages.

How about this: “It’s a 4RUNNER Thing. You Wouldn’t Understand”. I used to see that on Jeeps, ie. “It’s a Jeep thing….etc.” But haven’t seen that lately either.

I put a sticker in the rear that's completely unrelated except indicating I'm a dork of a specific age range. (not age-related, just a niche interest)

There isn't a "policy" on stickers, it's pretty much whatever you want. I'd err on the side of less stickers for cleanliness but that's my personal opinion so it's really up to you.

Heck, you can even put a Jeep decal on there.
