Had very trusted mechanics look at my steering rack on my 98 base model 4runner. All there was was a leak and they fixed it. Told me there was no issues at all with the rack. But it still seems super loose. I did put the biggest tires I could on it without a lift. They said maybe it’s suspension? I will be putting Bilstein 4600 shocks on it next. Will that help? I’m just lost and wondering if anyone has suggestions. I just need it safe enough for my wife to drive.

How are the steering rack bushings looking? If they are loose/worn, steering will feel vague
