The best bug protector in my opinion is Xpel film on hood and grill. Obviously more money but it’s an expensive truck.

I noticed that, too. I wonder why it says that. I might post a question on Amazon.

Amazon's fit thing isn't 100% correct, but double check with the vendor. I'd buy Viper SRT oil filters for my Scat Pack on Amazon. Amazon said they didn't fit, but they worked on my vehicle and everyone else who had a 5.7/ 6.4 hemi.

i retracted my post because i don't want to start any controversy but the item description clearly says :
    Auto Ventshade [AVS] Bugflector II H ood Shield | 2010 - 2023 Toyota 4Runner, High Profile, Smoke, 1 pc. | 25053.
but with amaz@n's return policy, how can i go wrong

I think on lighter colors bug deflectors look very cool. I seriously question they are functional however. If anything, their function is to damage your windshield.

Like other posters, I put on the WeatherTech stone deflector AND satin black wrap on the hood. Cut down that nasty glare off the TRD Pro black hood.

This video compares the three options from AVS. I was surprised that the "high profile" one has the same profile as the "medium profile", it just extends a couple inches more on each side.

I have had the AVS on my 2020 4R and it installed in the factory holes and has help up great. Also, I did not need to add the rubber nubs to keep it from hitting.

Weathertech site installation instructions I just looked at for the non stick ( held by screws) say don’t use automatic brush car washes. So I assume your car washes have been brushless.???

Yes. I agree. it is a pretty solid molded plastic and doesn't move much. I bought the high profile, it just looks better since it covers the hood and part of the front fender in a wrap around design.
I would not worry about car washes. Car wash brushes wont damage the screw on ones.

No, the car wash I use is an automatic brush type. Brushless car washes are worthless to me. So would a bug shield be if a brush car wash damaged it. That’s why I don’t use the stick-on one I used in my F-150. It got loose and started flopping on a long bridge at 60 mph, gouging the paint and metal. As always, YMMV.

I've been thinking about getting a shield but honestly, just hate the way they look. Anyone out there paint match one to your truck? I think I could deal with the look if it just blended in more...

What is the point of a bug deflector? So that portion of the hood is free of dings?

I like the AVS II but it is pretty large compared to others. The OEM one looks better imo.

    For looks: OEM
    For protection: AVS II

    I went AVS

Yes, that area tends to accumulate chips. It also may or may not help reduce bugs and debris impact to the windshield, but not much. Opinions very widely and some are strong.

I just installed a WT bug and deflector shield on a 2024 4Runner SRS and the fit is very tight against the front bumper/grille. The screws were tight I suspect it will damage the paint over time. I was searching the forums but don't see any way to adjust the deflector to increase the gap. I might send it back, don't like the fit.

There are some round rubber things in the engine bay that you can turn to fine-tune the hood gap. One or two revolutions should give you enough clearance.

I like the look of the OEM Toyota, but every dealer I've searched shows its discontinued and can't be ordered...anyone know where to get one?

thinking of AVS II High version...because the tips extend to the front fenders
the only one on Amazon is from a seller with 77% rating and no free returns
RealTruck is cheaper and ships quickly $70
    https://realtruck.com/p/avs-bugflector-ii-bug-shield/avs-25053/

I already Xpel'd the front clip, and the deflector will probably just 'deflect' rocks into my windshield

Huskey Aeroskin. It’s a tape on so it’s 100% flush. I added two to mine.

Nice. I like the way they sit flush.

    So, "Brockton" as in Mass?

Yep - I saw this pic of your rig yesterday and decided to buy the Bugflector II on Amazon last night. Already have SunTek PPF all over the front clip, fenders and hood but I'm hoping this will add another small layer of protection to these damn, thin/soft painted expensive beasts we've all invested in.

I ran the "Bugflector" by AVS on past Tacos but they were out of stock for my 4runner, so I got a Weathertech version and it's been great! I prefer the screwed in ones over the double stick tape on my paint.

Thanks...will check again. The rubber bumpers did not seem to be adjustable but I will investigate once the rain subsides.
