Ok folks so I have owned my 2014 4runner limited for little over a month now(4/8/24)....coming from a 2010 Nissan altima was a huge upgrade for me.so far the 4runner is everything i was told it would be.its just been a flawless experience from day of purchase to even now.not bad for a 95,000 mile suv.im still getting used to its power particularly it's engine.that 1GR-FE V6 engine packs some serious power.and I heard some good things about it.one thing I noticed immediately is that my 4runner can reach up 60 mph in just a few seconds this never used to happen in my nissan lol lol.I tested this out on the highway and I was trailing past everyone with blazing speed and I was able to slow down very quickly too.my 4runner just handles like a dream it's quite hard to believe it's a 10 year old vehicle with close to a 100,000 miles and drives like a brand new suv.im just impressed each time I drive to work, home and around the city.the undercarriage has no rust, and it was never rust proofed.its dry as a bone and clean too.my neighbors and co-workers initially assumed it's a brand new 4runner limited I got.i told them no,I got it shipped from a dealer down in Texas for $26,998 (a damn good deal if you ask me)as 5th gens are usually worth $34,000 and up pre-owned.ll

That 2010 Altima made my life a living hell....purchased it pre-owned in Connecticut back in early 2018 I finally got rid of it in exchange for a 4runner.It was a huge upgrade and very wise decision.i didn't just got myself an SUV I got myself a TOYOTA !!!.Long story short the nissan altima was a money pit from since day 1 and didn't know I was sold a lemon until it was too late.i just wanted something to commute to work and back and some errands but it costed me years of stress and financial stress.yes I learned the hardway,.....I'll never buy another Nissan EVER again.Infact Nissan is an embarrassment to the Japanese automotive and engineering marvel.

People will call the 5th gen 4Runner slow and under powered just don't know how to put their foot in it! I can swing out to pass at 60 MPH on a 2 lane highway and be doing 80 MPH by the time I pull back into the lane in front.

That's exactly what I was trying to say earlier. There's something special about that 1GR-FE engine...

You guys that are wanting your 4Runners to accelerate like a performance car remind me of adolescent boys abusing their 1st cars trying to make them perform like something they're not. All it does is shorten the lifespan of the vehicle and make you look foolish. You'll never be able to utilize forced induction power in an off road situation. Buy a Hellcat.

I turned my Gen III Hemi Daytona up to over 500 crank HP N/A and nearly 700 crank HP on a 175 shot of nitrous. The car got 26 MPG on the highway, 2 MPG better than stock. I didn't have to beat on it to get my adrenaline rush. I traded it off at 109,000 miles and the stock rotating assembly had never been apart. The big difference was that Mercedes had designed the drivetrain to withstand the strain. Our 4Runners are not.

I realize many of you will never get this experience, but the 4Runner off road in 4L and 1st gear with some steep terrain is absolute perfection. If one wants to judge throttle response and engine power, they need to put the 4R in the environment it was intended for.

1st gear in low range has a pretty sad ratio. It's much better with an aftermarket box

To each his own. If someone wants to build what they want....more power to them.
