Hoping someone here can help me with this. Ordered a new blower motor for 4Runner and the new part I received from Toyota dealer has a small metal clip attached to one of the white plastic fan blades that spins to circulate your air. It’s odd to me to just have some random metal clip attached to one of the many white plastic blades. I’m I supposed to remove this? What’s its purpose? Or is it used for balancing? I don’t see one on my old blower motor. The part I received was unopened and sealed by Toyota just bizarre to see this and praying someone may know what it’s for and if I am supposed to remove it. Thanks so much for any help.

I'm of no help, but I'd assume leave it since it's in pictures.

Is there a sensor that uses that clip to measure fan speed?

I believe the clip is used the balance the squirrel cage. Leave it on.

If you are not happy with it, return it and buy an OEM or higher quality (e.g. Denso) blower motor. Better chance it won't need a clip to balance it.

I think you’re right, balancing weight. Leave it there.

That's odd. I changed mine 6 months ago and bought the part from a dealer and it had no metal clip attached to any of the blades.

    +2. It’s a balancing weight.

I had to change the blower motor in my wife’s Honda a year ago and it looked exactly like that and had exactly the same metal clip on it. Toyota and Honda probably just use the same part from Denso.
