My 98 pushes in and holds until pushed again.
I can only get the 99 to push in and pop back out, no holding in place. It is out of car while I do the shifter bushings. Just bought it.
Just wondering if there is a difference in function/action between the two years

Just an update, took the button apart and found two hair size springs internally. Took me a while but I was finally able to get their position right and put the button assembly back together. Works fine now!
