Finally got my OBD unit paired with my phone and got transmission live data a look. Just going up about 500' elevation yesterday on the way up to Oroville Dam I got up to 190 F. And I'm planning a short trip with my 3000 lb trailer up to McLoud, at the base of Mt. Shasta in June. So I need a transmission fluid cooler I think. I'll look at the temp this week while towing the trailer before I actually buy a cooler.

What say y'all? What is your best unit you've bought and is still rock solid?

Are you looking at the pan temp or torque converter temp?

190 is a pretty typical temperature, by the way. Steady state on the highway, mine settles around 180-185, so you're only looking at a rise of 5 degrees potentially.

Not saying you don't need a cooler (I think about one occasionally), just giving some perspective.
