    Holy **** that’s drool worthy.

Kind of funny at the end when he mentioned his plastic “skid plate” on his Tacoma however….

That looks really nice. I’d like to see how that engine behaves with those big tires though.

Same. I'd like to see how all the modifications hold up, and how it rides compared to a stock.

Well, probably not well. You would need to regear for sure. But damn does it look good on those 37's. I am now wondering on the specs of this engine compared to the new 4R. Maybe this Landcruiser will be the next big thing if the price is right.

It’s the same engine that’s in the new Tacoma and will also be in the new 4Runner. The LC is only available as a hybrid though. The three of them are pretty much the same vehicles just with different bodies.

Wow. Toyota just went for the mass production approach and betting on the same engine for the three different vehicles. I am sure there will be tons of different configurations but sounds like they are betting big on this iforce thing. Time will tell....thanks for sharing.

I'm wondering about the 3.5-in front lift. That's pretty much maxing out the ifs, no? I imagine this has pretty much zero down travel left.

It probably drives better with the 37s than a 4Runner on 34s, but I'm sure it could still benefit from a regear.

It's hard to say how big of a bet it is without some more information, though. Since it was so long between generations for the 4R and Tacoma, they could have been quietly testing this engine for ten years, longer if their development cycles overlap. They had enough time to refine it to something they liked and torture enough of them to know what the failure rates would be down to the component levels. They're historically conservative, so I suspect that's what they did.

That assumes the 6G suspension geometry is similar to 5G. Has anyone published 6G measurements yet for comparison?

Other than the sway bar disconnect, I haven't seen any reports of reviewers or Toyota talking about extended suspension travel or "long travel," so I would imagine it's about the same.

I do recall that Tinker's Adventures did a review of the Tacoma, and found that the lower control arm lengths were pretty much the same as the outgoing model.

I'll have to check out more of Westcott's videos on this, perhaps they address this.

In that case, Westcott may have pushed the limits in that build for the attention it will get. A lot of people who will be attracted by it don't care so much about parts longevity.

That's probably it. This will look badass on YouTube and Instagram, it doesn't really need to perform in real life.

All you need to do is mellow out what they did above.

Put a 2" lift on it and some 35's.

The thing puts out 465 ft/lbs or torque. It can handle 35's no problem.

That looks very good. Ironically, I think it looks so good because it looks so ordinary.

Random thoughts…yeah it has tons of power, but that power is generated through a combination of the engine, turbo boost, and electric motor torque. You will need all three, all the time, and probably near max levels to maintain interstate speeds on anything but flat roads. This isn’t going to be a traveling vehicle lol.

Portals however…that would change everything. :)

Oh well, just dreams. It’s slowly dawning on me how truly expensive these really are off the lot. The 1958s weren’t as “cheap” as I thought they were going to be as the entry model.

Looks like it may have some reverse rake already with the 3.5/2.0” lift, wonder how it would look once they put a tire on the carrier.

The 3rd gen Taco would have been way better off running the 4.0 from the 5th gen 4Runner. If a motor is a good one, beats having a compromise motor borrowed from minivans and sedans.

lol, people. if you like the old engines, get carb, cafe, epa to not enforce such strict rules that oem's have to follow.

ask how that worked out for honda gas mowers, that forced them to exit the usa market for gas mowers in sept-2023.

I had a Honda push mower before I moved to a bigger house and bough a Deere tractor for our 2 acres. Loved that thing.

However if I where in the market today and only needed a push mower for a postage stamp lot I would just buy electric. Cheaper to operate, minimal maintenance, quiet. I think a lot of customers are going that way.

Same reason I traded my Husqavarna gas trimmer for a Dewalt electric. It has been better in every conceivable way. I charge the battery one a month and never have to deal with mixing gas. Dont even need ear plugs.

So what you are saying is, if a product is better for customers' use cases, it would have been chosen by its target audience anyway, then what is the point of drastic restrictions that either directly or indirectly lead to bans, and take the choice away from users who still need gas tools?

Toyota didn't choose to end production of the 1GR engine in 4Runners, it is still used overseas' models. They discontinued it here even though more American customers are buying it than ever. Same idea.

Haha. The other video with the three Wescott LCs was wacky too with the guy talking about how they tied the design together with a little color on the end of the roof rack and a tiny sticker on the front bumper. And also some color on the fake license plates.

I'm afraid the Tacoma and 4runner are all gonna feel underpowered at 75+ mph except for the hybrid variant. Prolly why they offer hybrid for a price for the top end trims (and all the Lexus/LC's).

I said that consumers are already buying electric for small lawn tools as they can see they have so many advantages. Even in states that have passed no such regs. Honda sees this trend. The regs will accelerate it but it would have happened sooner or later either way.

And as for the 1GR, as best I can tell the only thing it’s still used in is the Land Cruiser 300 and Fortuner in the Middle East (SA and UAE) market and some J70s and Hiluxes but not clear how many sell with that vs. diesels. It’s been ended in the 15 or so other platforms it was used in over the years. Nice job cherry picking data…

I still use my gas Deere for my big multi acre lawn. But if I was still on <1/2 acre the electric would get it done.
