Max fan speed only

Hey! So I have a 2000 limited 4runner with the digital hvac controls (repaired by that guy who does the hvac control repairs). My problem is no matter what I do it’s always max fan speed. It shows low speed on the control unit but it’s still full speed. Got a recommendation to replace blower motor resistor, of course they don’t make the one I have anymore. But I realized the plug is the same for the rear and the front so I swapped the rear one in and it didn’t work. I tested it in the rear and the resistor is good. I can also feel the relay clicking as I turn the control up/down so seems like that is working. It seems like the speed goes up/down just a little bit but it still feels like max speed.

 

Symptoms are just like the blower resistor

Just because plugs are the same doesn't necessarily mean that the switch is the same.

Looks available on rock auto at least. Also looks like part numbers are different for front and rear.

Just tested the front blower resistor in the rear and the low doesn’t work but the high does. So seems like your right about just cause same plug doesn’t mean it’s the same. So rockauto only has 1x that fits (wve) my model and only 1x in stock of that one. I ordered it from 2x different ppl on eBay and they both canceled on me. I’m pretty sure I got a prompt from rock auto when I added it to my cart that it’s discontinued or something but it let me order it so we will see what they say.

Funny ebay lets them cancel.

Only time I've had someone cancel on me is because I forgot to check if they shipped to Hawaii. We worked it out after so it was cool. But I'm pretty sure they are supposed to have the item on hand to post on ebay.
