    Good evening,

New member here! I have just purchased a new 2024 trd off road premium. I traded my 2016 sr5 which I drove since new. I do not know how to use the manual shifter vs. the knob my last 4Runner had. Does anybody have any helpful information or videos on how to use all these features. I will be returning to the dealer for a breakdown as well.

    thank you

The manual will tell you about it all but basically throw the shifter where you need it. Neutral for low range like before. All the buttons and knobs are basically traction control and the locker is the rear locker that only works in low range.

Not very complicated. Honestly do some youtube searching and just get out and try it. Shifter is easy to use.

Welcome to the forum. I just got the same model after having a 21 SR5P with the dial. Also had no idea. Watched a YouTube and it was very visually informative.

If you go back to the dealer, they'll want to sell you a brake job...

    The best way to learn.

Some other pointers for the OP…follow the limitations in the owners manual! The speed limits for shifting being one of them, and the other is to only shift in-out of 4wd while on flat ground.

The locker can be tricky to operate. It’s got a button, but that doesn’t guarantee immediate engagement. Sometimes you need to let it roll forward, backward, or do a little slow speed slalom to get to “click”. The dash will indicate when it engages physically. Sometimes it quietly drops right in or out, but usually you’ll hear mechanical click sound when it finally engages or disengages.

This is a great video. Thank you for sharing. I want to know what his camera mount system was. Man that thing was steady over some pretty aggressive terrain late in the video
