Ok sorry about the New York to Chicago fiasco.when u put it that way it is dumb idea lol lol lmao.i love my 4runner limited so much it made me think stupid

 

At jackdaniels...the rear differential fluid was changed by Toyota at the dealer when I took the 4runner in for a 2nd oppinion inspection...they robbed me of $600 !!! Never going back to a Toyota dealer ever !!!! For the life of my 4runner

 

This. It's not that big of a deal, as long as all the fluid levels are full it's fine. Just replace them as the services are due, no need to freak out about it right now.

Chances are the brake fluid, power steering fluid, and coolant are all the original Toyota stuff anyway because hardly anybody actually changes those fluids.

This is the same guy who bought the car without a pre-purchase inspection, then wanted to take it in to make sure every thing was OK. AFTER THE DEAL WAS DONE!

Ok guys I did what most of you told me to do...I shopped around and a found a reputable auto shop that will drain,flush and refill my engine fluids except the transmission fluid all for $352 !!!.now I asked them why not the transmission fluid they couldn't give me a clear answer just that something they don't do I'm not so sure myself if it's particularly 4runners or every vehicle across the board.so I'll be taking the 4runner to toyota to drain,flush refill the transmission fluid.it ain't bad infact nothings wrong with the engine it's just an insecure feeling from buying the 4runner from CarMax.coz I'm sure they didn't put in the "good stuff" and can't confirm what they put in the engine before they sold it to me.If you guys think its strange as to why they dont wana mess with transmission please share your thoughts im willing to listen to reason.so hence the title of this thread....WIPE THE SLATE CLEAN !!!.

There is no "GOOD STUFF".
As long as you use the grade that is stipulated in the manual, everything is GOOD STUFF.
Are you assuming that they have used 5W20 for oil, DOT5 brake fluid and Turpentine as power steering fluid?!
And despite all the wrong fluids, the truck runs great in your own estimation.

 

You’re overthinking this. The truck doesn’t care what brand of fluids you put in it. The only thing I would go Toyota brand with is the transmission fluid. Everything else will be fine with Mobil 1, Valvoline, etc. For the diffs and t case I go with whichever I can find in a squeeze bag to make it easier to fill. Check your owners manual for the fluid types and quantities.

 

Did you call any of the recommended shops?

No im not going to Chicago for an engine maintenance anymore I just got a little over my head.since I bought the Limited 4runner it has changed my life positively.every morning I wake up I'm just excited to get inside the vehicle and go somewhere.sometimes I go on expressway and speed away just for the fun of it lol lol....

 

@Noodles no I didn't call the shop yet...today's my wife's birthday so I was taking her out all around the city in the 4runner and man we had a blast she complimented the 4runner for it's smooth ride.im gonna call them tomorrow for an estimate.thanks for info noodles u been a big help at least I got something to start with.

Funny u said that coz today I was driving down the road and hit my right side door mirror against another vehicle luckily nobody was inside that vehicle.so I made a turn on the next intersection and pull in near a sidewalk to see how badly damaged the mirror was...thankfully just a electrical plug came out I reinsert it and adjust the mirror everything was back to normal.im so lucky the mirror didn't completely broke off.i gotta be careful next time.the incident left a small black mark but I'll just use a dish sponge and water to wipe it out no big deal.

 

My Limtied 4runner is like a beast I'm still trying to tame.i have to master the breaking...it's horrible or maybe I'm horrible at braking I even had the carmax guy checked it he said front brakes are good but the back needs replacement in about but if u want i can change them now to gave you that peace of mind.he did it for free coz the vehicle is under warranty and it wasn't my fault since I got the vehicle a month and 1 day old.i asked him why the braking is so different compared to my old 2010 Nissan altima he saids well your driving an SUV for the first time and 4runner is a heavy vehicle so when u stop at a light the momentum forces the front of the vehicle depending how fast you were driving when approaching a red light to stop so he told me u gotta take it easy with your 4runner and slow down in advance no sudden stops and you will have enough time to control the vehicle.i did notice an improvement in braking after he changed the break pads.

 

Darn. I was hoping this thread was about how to clear your black box data. If I ever have that shizz come up in court, I'm screwed. And it might, because this fricking future we're in!

Look guys after doing my research I thinks it's just better I take my 4runner straight into the dealership for my first time 100,000 mile maintenance.DIY would save me money but it's a hassle because there's different types of parts ranging in quality then u gotta deal with the knock-offs.it becomes very difficult differentiating from what parts are real and fake.Just the other day i went to denzo website to look for exact spark plugs specifically for my 4runner limited.they had 6 different flavors of spark plugs then i gotta educate myself on spark plugs and what each type is what's the best one....i started to pull my hair out of my scalp lol lol lol lmao...
Reputable online places like Amazon sells fake parts also most mechanic shops don't like the idea of a customer bringing his own parts.coz if something goes wrong it's a he said/she said.and I might not like the parts they would use.Toyota dealership is straightforward and safe way to go.ill get a piece of mind knowing it's genuine oem parts and fluids will go into my 4runner and the warranty would be guaranteed.the only thing is I have to make it very clear to toyota that I'm ONLY coming in for engine maintenance NOTHING ELSE !! differential fluid was already changed,it's just engine oil,coolant,brake & power steering fluid and washer fluid refill....for the quality,dependability,reliability and longevity of a 4runner it deserves the dealership love and care.
