Silver it is!! I’m pretty evenly divided on the looks. So the fact that the silvers are the more natural fit, and that dealerships over charge for the upgrade is the tiebreaker for me! I just wish that it didn’t have KDSS, but oh well.

    You'll love KDSS! It's a great system.

Always those damn trade offs. From what I’ve read about it, yes it will be great, but that it will be an extremely expensive replacement cost to replace it at about 120K miles. I could have read bad information though, I’m not positive how accurate that is. I also get the impression that KDSS creates more underbody pockets for rust to possibly form. And I guess it also seems like it creates a complication for getting rock sliders installed (like I’m not sure if I’ll damage the KDSS while installing the “More complicated driver’s side.”). But with non-KDSS I imagine that both sides are equally simple, and that it’s overall just one less complication on the vehicle.

It definitely sounds like KDSS would be a more comfortable ride, but I have a lot of experience being in shaky Jeeps, and that doesn’t seem to bother me too much (and I imagine a non-KDSS 4Runner will still be a better ride than a lifted shaky Jeep).

I don't know that KDSS will be a better ride, as it's my understanding it firms things up a bit. You'll use the KDSS every mile you drive, so if you have it for 120k miles, you'll have used it that entire time, a decade. I think it's definitely a good trade-off for not having it if/when it fails. Also, if you're used to a Jeep, meaning if you go off road, the benefit of KDSS off road should make your heart happy as well.

The silver will look great! The only other 3
OEM options I would consider are the Gunmetal old style Pro wheels, bronze new style pro wheels, and charcoal 21 trail wheels. All of those colors will look great against black.

I'd black out everything that I legally could. Had a Monte Carlo back in the late 80's that I did that to. My best friend called it the Batmobile but it was bada$$.

I'm on the off road wheels bandwagon personally. Definitely blacked out. But that's my opinion. Some like polished and chrome things.

I think another concern is a dealer in your area knowledgeable enough to fix kdss should you have an issue. From threads over the years I’ve read some mechanics don’t know how to fix it. So it’s not just the money but is someone qualified to do a repair properly. It’s not a common many 4Rs so I think knowledge to fix them is thus limited

The dirty wheels must be a matte black thing, I've never had that issue with the gloss black powder coating.

The gunmetal TRD wheels are available matte and gloss. I just put a set of the gloss on my fancy Limited. Also, I don't think they're difficult at all to clean – just get the right size soft brush and it's pretty simple.

I like silver I think it’s a nice contrast plus I think the black trd valance is too flat or matte imo I personally think it would like way better a little glossier and less flat
