So i just bought a 94 4runner 4x4 with 3.0L. This is my first toyota but i always wanted one as i always had 4x4s all my 40+ years of age. It ran ok but it was only $3k. So i pulled the trigger and headed home. I had a 100 mile trip home with the wife and kids trailing behind. So about 40 miles later the small water line on the oil cooler popped a hole and i lost all my coolant. Temp gauge did not give warning. It overheated so i pulled over and damn was it hot. Smelled burnt AF. After it cooled down it cranked over like it had no compression and wont start. So i got towed home. Guessing i need at least head gaskets. Maybe new heads. So its a project now. But im not giving up yet i do my own mech work so im gonna fix it myself as i always do. So anyway HI YALL.

How about an engine swap from 3.0 to 3.4, junk yard or remanufactured. Welcome to the forum!

Yea looking into it. I need it to be smog legal so i need to find a whole donor vehicle but that is an option. Gonna tear into it and see how bad it is. If i can fix it for cheap than ill run the 3.0 till i can get a 3.4 to swap.
