Looking for ideas/new meals to try and cook while at camp. What is your go to?

We try and utilize some sort of our leftovers from home and try to incorporate it into something new. Had a can of pinto beans, already minced onion and cilantro, some needed to be used feta cheese, prime ribeye sitting in the freezer, and some tortillas that had to be used. So for breakfast we made some ‘huevos rancheros’

Nothing too fancy. When car camping (“overlanding…”), steak with peppers and mushrooms on the Coleman camp stove. Maybe some Dutch oven pizza or stew/chili if we’re feeling ambitious. Definitely leftovers and sandwiches.

I mainly enjoy making breakfast, but we both like to cook regardless of the meal. So here’s a bacon ‘potato chip’ skillet on the Tembo Tusk skottle

Well I’m not sure how to respond to this. Those legs are not mine but my gf’s and everyone talks crap on crocs until they actually wear a pair more than just trying them on. They are the perfect boat/water shoe, slipper, and they are very comfortable. Yea they aren’t the best looking shoe, but I don’t care. I’m not trying to impress anyone or care what people think about what I’m wearing

    Bacon undercooked
    Avocado not ripe yet
    Potatoes look under-seasoned
    Not enough sauce

Are you serious about camping food or just trolling us?

Looks are deceiving, assure you they were ripe and seasoned to our liking. As for the bacon we do not like it cripsy.

obviously the hot sauce/condiments are added to our liking

    Flip flops are fine.

Slaps, birkenstocks, and crocs are unacceptable......as is the amount of sauce in the dish picture above.

This was always a huge hit when our kids were young. They still ask for it. Hits the spot at the end of a long camping day.

Well, I’ll vote for crocs for a great water shoe, and something to toss on quick when I come out of the tent when the grass is wet, once it dries, on go the burks. If I don’t need to wear socks, I’m in those camping.

This past weekend was the wife b-day. We happened to be camping. I bought filets to cook on the blackstone. mmmm. Usually we make smash burgers also. She recommended making smash cinnamon rolls, which turned out great. Also we made some type of bananas with marshmallows and chocolate in foil. Good stuff.

The go to is usually ground beef tacos because they're easy.
I'll also do steak and asparagus a lot of the time as well.

I always have sandwich ingredients for travel days but that's a last resort before I break out the lemon flavored lifeboat food rations

Ditto to the foil packet stuff. Especially veggies. Hard to screw them up. Under or overcooked, it still turns out good.

    Not true for fish...of course.

I eat breakfast at home, pack a sandwich for lunch and eating dinner at home. Option 2: eating dinner at the lounge/hotel/room service :D
    This my type of camping.

You can grill some chicken on open fire or hot dogs/pancetta.

My camp meals are catered by Chef Boyardee. Non perishable and no risk of things spoiling if I get stranded out in the middle of nowhere for a few days.

Also, Nacho Cheese Doritos are the perfect chip to dip in Spaghettios with meatballs
