I had a kind bar in the driver door and noticed it was opened and chewed on, next day it was ripped open more and the other side was chewed on. How the hell is he getting inside?

It's probably living in there already but check your cabin air filter or even pressure vents. They chew through anything.

I would get on that sooner than later. They love to munch on Toyotas soy based wiring. I’ve seen trucks totaled from squirrels and mice…

I’d definitely put in a snap trap baited with a dab of peanut butter.

"A class-action lawsuit against Toyota related to rodent damage was dismissed by a judge due to lack of evidence." It's time this myth dies. Rodents chewing on wiring has been going on since the beginning of automobile production.

That’s how I would do it too. Set it forget it until morning. You will have the culprit.

Too poor to buy anything now
I agree with the snap trap. You've already got the Kind bar bait.

spray some "mighty mint " spray inside and under your hood. Rodents don't like the smell. The spray is for sale at most hardware stores, Amazon and Target. Look for nests up under the hood blanket. check everywhere! rodent damage will cost you a bundle if you don't act fast! Good luck:D

Yup, a lot of poop in the cabin filter:

Thanks for the tips...not sure I want to have a dead rat marinating in there overnight so ill start with the spray but yeah, I'll prob.end up putting a trap in there.

FYI everyone, keep that re-circulation vent closed to the outside air when parked. I spray the peppermint in the cowling vents and under the fender well where they enter, the corners under the hinges, and all over the engine bay as well as the cabin filter and HVAC fan.

Gotta love this excerpt from the link: "Need more proof? The folks that produce soy commissioned a formal scientific study. Hey, why would they lie?"

Easy and safe poison bait for rodents:

Mix peanut butter, baking soda, baking powder, and instant oatmeal. Rats and mice can't burp!

Dust the Kind bar with baking soda and baking powder (?)

^ Death by bloat? Are both baking soda and baking powder required? Equal parts?

Likely not- I just couldn't remember which was originally called for. I would use equal parts peanut butter and oats with 1/2 as much baking powder/soda. If you want to check, see which reacts the most with vinegar or lemon juice. Rats will" test" a strange food, so you want as natural a taste as possible!

    I prefer catch-and-release traps.

The snakes in my neighborhood canyons need food too. Every winter we end up catching a couple of mice in our house. It's a 50s built house with a sub-basement. A haven for mice.

I do the same plus put a couple of these sprinkled with peppermint oil in the cabin under seats and in the top of fender well holder in the cargo area.

Only problem is that, if the snakes don't get them (Or the hawks and owls), they will return. One of the biologists would trap mice in the office and we noted that they just returned!
