Oil Pan question

Should I be concerned about the look of this ?
Wiped out pan -inside and out I used brake/parts cleaner and it looked like that afterwards then I used Lacquer thinner thinking that is used as a cleaner - nothing changed - what is the best approach ? Also looks like something around drain opening is broken away.

 

Nothing is broken.

You need to just clean the gasket area of the pan better, especially the corners. Not sure what you expect to see on an old pan but none of that would bother me.

 

Of course - clean better the mating surface of which I will. The pan looked odd to me almost like it was rusted where it was brown. I had not seen that before. Is a wire wheel in a drill too aggressive to clean the mating area ?
