Used to have a pair of FJ Cruisers, but we lost them in an acid spill incident in our city in 2018.
Wife has a very nice DCSB with a manual transmission; upgrades to wheels and tires, tonneau, and a skid plate. She does need the 4x4 to get to and from our remote cabin.

She likes the Runner, but not some of the missing features she has on the Taco. Hoping to see what the 6th gen offers.

Welcome here! Heck of a place to be for knowledge

There's a ton of threads here talking about how much folks liked switching from Tacos to 4R's. The Search feature here works great for research reading. But it's give and take when considering switching, a pick up vs an SUV.

That's wild about an acid spill.
Then I looked closer at your city and was pleasantly surprised, a fellow BRITISH COLUMBIAN! Very few of us :hattip:

I used to have a third gen Tacoma and now a 21 T4R Pro. Compared to my 2016, I’m only missing BSM, which broke in it anyways :(

My ew has a Lincoln Corsair with all the tech you could ask for (lane centering cruise control) and loves driving the 4R.

    None. Yet.
As an ex owner of several Tacomas, as well as a Jeep Gladiator, I have to say that I miss the ability to load lumber on the truck with little difficulty, BUT, I now can easily load up the kids and the dawgs and we can get somewhere with comfort and what feels like added safety. So I’m not looking back. And, I feel like the 5th gen is gonna be very desirable when the 4 banger becomes the standard engine. I’m not a mechanic by any stretch, just old school. . Welcome from North Carolina!!!!!!

    2022 SR5 Premium 4WD
Before I made the “command decision” (lol) to purchase my pre-owned / certified 2022 4RUNNER SR5 Premium 4WD this past November, I also test drove a couple of Tacomas at my Toyota dealer. One Tacoma was a 2021 and the other a 2022.

I was coming out of my long time friend, my 2006 TUNDRA TRD SR5 4WD Double Cab, that I had purchased new for myself.

For grins and giggles, I also test drove a big 2020 Tundra while I was at the dealer. Wifey thought the Tundra was just too ridiculously big and bulky. She was also going to be driving my next choice of vehicle from time to time, so I was trying to honor her inputs. She nixxed the huge bulky Tundra.

But, I digress- back to the Tacomas- Those two Tacomas, being so much newer than my “antique” ‘06 Tundra just didn’t seem to “float my boat” like I thought they should have.

I didn’t like the ergonomics of the driver’s seat, the back seat felt cramped for leg room, and I didn’t particularly like the mannerisms of the engine or transmission.

But when we both drove that 4RUNNER, we thought hey this is pretty nice. My wife was enthused with it, and she was surprised and happy with the visibility to the rear and through the side windows towards the rear.

She did offer one criticism or warning however- She told me that I wouldn’t be able to haul dirty stuff or throw crap in the back end of the 4RUNNER like I could with my Tundra. I agreed that I wouldn’t want do that. She said you are going to miss that open bed on your Tundra.

I countered with yeah I guess I’ll have to buy a utility trailer to pull behind the 4RUNNER. She said no dice to a trailer, as we have no place to store one inside. She said we are not going to pay extra for registration for a trailer, then leave it set outdoors to rot in the sun and weather, not to mention the threat of it being stolen.

She said for the 3 or 4 times a year that we may actually need a trailer, we can just rent one from like Home Depot or U-Haul.

And so with that in mind, between the choice of a gargantuan too big Tundra, and not being thrilled with the Tacoma test drive experience, we settled on the 4RUNNER.

We haven’t regretted it for even one second. We love this 4RUNNER.

Incidentally, wifey’s car is a 2021 RAV4 XLE Hybrid full time AWD. NOT the plug in hybrid. I don’t see the sense of having to plug one in. That RAV4 Hybrid is great. We love it. We are Toyota folk. lol.

Update: we settled on a deal for a new 2024 4Runner TRD Pro for my wife, in exchange for her 2019 Tacoma DCSB 6MT Sport Premium…..and a bunch of Canadian dollars.
The runner is supposed to arrive in a few weeks and she is very excited.

We put the summer tires and wheels (16”) on the Taco, and kept the winter tires on 17” rims to use on the Runner next November.

I really like Terra. I found a used 2021 Pro locally with low miles so I went that route, but I think this color looks great too.
