New Member here! Currently in SoCal, from the PNW :) Now, I have done SO much research on just about everything you can do to the exterior. But I haven't seen much about interior mods!

I travel a lot, and need to make sufficient room for all of my gear! (Roof rack coming soon) I've noticed a lot of DIY people making their own drawers, cabinets and shelves! What have you guys done for weather/dirt proof seat covers? I've seen a lot of molle stuff lately, thinking about using that for some of my gear! I've seen really nice tactical seat covers, smittybuilt makes some that are pretty pricey but if they hold up, I'm game.

How do you have CB's and Nav set up? I have a 5th gen, nowhere for me to set up my phone mount either. What have you guys done? Gun storage, ceiling mounts, wiring, electronics, underseat storage, I wanna see it all! TIA

    Well let's see.

Get a Salex console organizer, that is a big help in organizing stuff in that massive hole of a center console. They make them for the glove box too.

My nav is a Garmin on a RAM suction cup mount, just run to the cig lighter. The RAM is nicer and more adjustable than the OEM Garmin suction cup. I do have the power cord trimmed to be exactly the correct length to go from the unit to the cig plug so there is no excess cable. I hate - HATE - the Toyota OEM nav, it is a total piece of shit.

CB is awkward to install in the 5th gen. No real room to do it. There's a thread on communication equipment that has some pics but generally your options are to install a full size CB in the console and run the mic out, or install a "micro" CB like the Cobra 75. Another option that a few people tried (including me) was to cut out the back of the cubby at the bottom of the HVAC controls and stuff a full size CB in there... but the heat blowing right on it from the ducting behind there killed my President in about 8 months. I tried several different ideas and eventually just gave up. I do have a HAM mounted to the top of the console but it has a remote head so it's easy.

I don't use seat covers on this truck so no advice there.

I know some guys have metal bracketry on the interior of the hatch windows and hang shit off it, personally I don't need to bring that much stuff and I feel like that sort of thing is an answer in search of a question... but to each their own.

Lots of people upgrade the interior lights to LED, I've considered it but then I also considered that I don't give a shit, so I haven't...

I carry a handgun on me and don't leave it in the truck or have any sort of holster mounted to the truck, so no help there.

Other interior mods I have that I like - cargo net to the interior roof, shotgun rack to the interior roof, constant power 12VDC socket. Not really a mod but 8 gallon Rubbermaid Action Packers are great storage totes for the cargo area. Ohhh - tint, rubber floor covering (Weathertech, Husky, what have you)... I think that's about it.

    Some pics...

This is how I had the CB for a while, it works but I ultimately moved it:

Super basic Garmin for nav (I like the elevation option):

Cargo net (28x28 bungee net with a paracord frame):

Shotgun rack (before I integrated the net and the rack together):

Full nerd option (I read a lot of maps in the car, like - paper maps), Littelite map light:

Edit, some pics are my 2014 TE (gone) and some are my 2017 SR5 (current).
