No deal, IMHO. Five years old and 77k miles to save less than $10k over MSRP.

What’s a fair deal on that in your opinion? 1 owner and in good shape and good maintenance history. Drives nice. I agree it’s over priced.

I don't think it's over priced, because 4Runners really hold their value. But with the car market in decline right now, you can get a new vehicle for almost the same money as used.

I get it, it can be daunting. But take your time, do lots of research and comparison. Don't worry, you won't "miss out".

I keep hearing people say new is almost as cheap but looked at new ones today and they wanted 51k for a 2024 ORP. That’s with kdss though.

Your post was for a used TRD ORP in white. I found a brand new TRD ORP in Silver, for $46k

    https://www.autotrader.com/cars-for...By=derivedpriceASC&state=OR&clickType=listing

It's in your zip code. Well, it's in the same zip as the used 4runner you posted.

I almost pulled the trigger on a 2023 Lime Rush ORP w/ 20K+ miles. They were asking $45K at CarMax. No negotiating. Then found out a ‘24 Solar Octane was coming to my local dealership. I immediately put down a deposit so I could save it. Bought it the day it rolled off the truck. $50K out the door. My rationale was, “If I’m getting a 4R, might as well get the last year brand new”. I did stretch my budget a bit but my lovely wife said, “Do not come home without that truck”. What a ball breaker, haha. Get a new one if you can.

From what I'm seeing in your area new SR5 Premiums are listed at around 50k seems like. These things hold their value really well, not like buying a Dodge lol. If you believe KBB, it lists the 2020 private party value at the high end at 40k.

At a dealership, probably haha. I doubt they will budge that much. I could see them maybe coming down like 1-2k max unless they are really wanting to move it.

Edit: Doesn't hurt to try though.

Ok man, here's what you need to do in order to get a great deal on that used truck you want. You have to do this in person.

The night before you go see the salesman, eat a massive amount of broccoli & asparagus. When you walk up to him, shake his hand, look him firmly in the eye and then tell him you want $5k off the price.

Next, rip the nastiest, wettest, smelliest fart ever. You know the kind, when your eyes water and you have to leave the room because you feel sick? Yeah, that kind. Rip that fucking fart. Make sure it's loud so everyone hears it. Do not break eye contact with the salesmen while this is occurring and do NOT let go of his hand.

He'll probably give you whatever you want just to get you the hell out of the showroom. It's worth a shot, no?

You would be wise to spend a bit more and buy new as it will hold it's value very well. The fewer new 5th Gen 4Runner that remain on dealer lots the fsater the price will rise and new 5th Gens will disappear. I expect 5th Gens to hold their value much more very soon.

@Rob41 I agree that they hold their value but I tend to keep vehicles for 10+ years. I really want this to be a keeper for life. So resale is not as important. Still though retaining its value still does hold value.. Its a toss up between new and used. Just keep hoping the market keeps changing in the next couple months

I think this may already be happening. I occasionally check KBB to see what my ride is worth. Last month, it said the trade in value (at a dealership) was about $41k. Today (and the mileage has gone up), it's a little over $43k.

Yeah, it's started. I've read of others noticing the same thing and IMO at some point, prices are going to go through the roof.

It's easier to shop new vs new, also. There's so much variability in used (miles, condition, options, etc.) that you really have to know the vehicles well, and you have to look at them all. With the price differences between new and used being small, new can make more sense, as others have said. Plus, you can decide on an out-the-door price. Don't shop any other number - get tax, title, fees, etc. all wrapped up into one number and only discuss that number, and shop that price even into neighboring states.

The market for new 4Runners can’t get any better than now. You can get them for invoice pricing at multiple dealers, but you may have to shop out of state. Invoice pricing is about $4k-$5k off of msrp depending on the options and trim. If you truly are keeping this as a forever vehicle, I would write down a list of your needs and a list of your wants. Once you have that list, start the allocation process with a dealer that will sell at invoice.

I just made a deal on a 2024 Solar Octane Off Road Premium for $3200 off MSRP. Not invoice but as good as I have been able to find on that unicorn color. Should be delivered by the end of the month.
