Anyone know the depth for the drivers side front differential carrier seal on a 2002 model 4runner sr5 4x4 of course. I don't have a manual and I can only locate the passenger side depth and don't have a service manual. Any help is very much appreciated

You mean the cv axle seal?

    5.5mm

The drivers side cv axle slides into the transfer case and this is the seal I'm not certain what it's called but I've been looking for an up to date downloadable service manual this morning to download free if possible but I might end up having to buy one I'm afraid. Here's a picture of the seal I put it but it's pushed down slightly more on the right side than the left and I wasn't sure about the depth in relation to the bevel. Thanks for any help or recommendations in advance

Your cv axle does not go into the transfer case.

Your transfer case is at the rear of your transmission.

That housing is your front differential.

The seal you're referring to is your cv axle seal, as I stated.

Seating depth is 5.5mm on either side; some people have successfully seated their seal with just pushing their cv axle in. Before I got a specific seal driver I just used pvc pipe.

Thanks for all the advice and help the CV axles done but ran into another problem with the sway bar links and rack and pinion. While putting on the cv axles and re assembling I didn't put the sway bar links back in bc I got new ones and now have power steering fluid coming out of both sides of the rack and pinion. So I decided to put the sway bar links on and now the outter tie rod ends are getting the threads all boogered up when I go to remove them. Looks like I may have to put a R&P seal rebuild kit in and figure out why the tie rod ends threads are getting chewed up.

Why did you mess with your sway bar end links at all or even your steering rack?

None of that is necessary in the removal of your CV axles.

Remove the sway bar, it's garbage. Same with the end links.

Get yourself a new rack while they're still cheap and keep it for a rainy day; they come with brand new inners too which by themselves are a lot.

You can deduct all of that from one picture?
