Windshield Replacement - What is Pyramid Like Device and Do I Need To Keep It?

Recently had my windshield replaced and the installers had no idea what the black pyramid shaped device was sticking on the windshield (about size of a hand). Just wondering if I need to keep it, or if I can remove it as it's an after market thing that doesn't matter. Thanks!

That's interesting. Where was it located in the windshield?

I would trace that wire back to where it is plugged in, probably will show exactly what it is for (as long as it is still plugged into something). If not, pic of the other end of the plug should be a good enough clue for the internets to figure out what it is for.
