Don't like the seats SR5 Premium

Are there any really good seat covers that would help with ventilation on these vinyl/leather seats? I bought a 2023 SR5 Premium earlier this year when 4runners were a little harder to get, it was basically you choose from what the dealership was allotted. I swore I'd never get another vehicle with vinyl/leather seats, but there was never any SR5's with 4x4 to choose from. I also did like some of the extra options on the SR5 Premium like navigation, heated seats (for the wife). I wasn't aware that the Off Road came with cloth seats.

I've heard the sheepskin covers are nice, but I just don't want that look.

So my question is, does anybody know of any really good seat overs that would help with ventilation? Price is not too much of a concern as I'm also thinking about trading it in for a new 4runner with cloth seats, so I would lose a lot on that trade in.

There was a reply here about Katzkin covers, and while they are very nice, they're not what I'm looking for. Thanks.

I don't have experience with them myself, but Wet Okeole neoprene seat covers have always been very highly regarded.

They are, and I've had a set on my '20 since I bought it. But it's not what he's looking for since he's looking for more ventilation. Wet Okoles are rough to have in the summer if you're in a hot climate. So much so that I almost took them off this year for good.

Even though I already have cloth seats, I ordered Cal Trend Sports Tex fabric seat covers for the front seats within weeks of taking ownership of my 2019 OR, just to protect the front seat fabric. They've been on for over 4 years, and have been great. I have the same seat covers on my 2003 Tacoma and the wife's 2018 Kia Soul.

I can't answer the ventilation help question, as I do not have the Toyota pleather seats. Like you, I had no interest in leather or fake leather seats.

Thanks Bob, but I'm not ready to go that route, but I appreciate the offer.

I do the same for most of my vehicles as well. I had set of the Cal Trends on my Tundra with vinyl seats and it was no help. Eventually added those beaded covers, which did help, but I don't want to go that route again either. I'm becoming a fussy old man who wants it the way I want it, LOL. Thanks for all the help so far.

Are the SR5 Premium seats the same softex fake leather as the Pros? If so, surprised you don’t like them. Have had cloth, leather, and alcantara seats….really like the softex material, feels nice yet way more durable than “luxury” real leather.

Honestly, if just a simple plug n play, a seat swap makes the most sense. Bet there are tons of new SR5 owners with cloth willing to swap + maybe even cash on top. As long as you can keep the heated seat function.

Personally hate seat covers, haven’t sat in one that feels as tight and nice as a the real thing (but might be wrong). Don’t understand them for “seat protection” reasons either. If you keep the car long enough to wear the material out, you’ve probably worn the cushion too and are better just getting them redone professionally.

Personally would rather pay an upholstery shop to redo it for me but that’s $$$.

I'll probably just trade it in, most likely on a 2024 Off Road. I thought I'd ask here first, just in case there was a new cover that worked well.

I don't know if its the same as the Pro's, and while it seems nice and soft and durable, to me it's just vinyl that after all, I don't care for. We had real leather that was ventilated which was nice and durable. It was a 2006 and we just traded it in recently and the seats looked remarkably nice.

I'm not sure if they're plug and play, but it's something I haven't considered. I'd rather keep all that kind of stuff stock. Thanks again.

Yet another thread supporting my decision for a basic SR5 with cloth seats. No need for heaters or ventilation.

I'll keep you posted, but again, the more I look at seat covers, the more I'll probably just trade it in. It has a moon roof that I couldn't have removed either. Did they ever make an SR5 Premium with cloth seats?

I waited months to see if a basic SR5 4x4 would be available, it never was. Even now I think there is 1 within 100 miles of me. I wouldn't mind driving that far, but back then it just wasn't available.

I happened to sit in an Off Road recently and really liked the cloth seats, that's what got this whole thing started again. To me, those seats would be an upgrade.

Yes, unfortunately in today’s market you have to take what’s available. I’ve been looking at cheaper used cars for my kid and it’s unbelievable what people are asking for a vehicle that isn’t even road worthy!

Update: I traded the SR5 Premium for a new 2024 Off Road in Nautical Blue. I absolutely love it and the cloth seats. Shame on Toyota for not offering cloth seats as an option for the SR5 and Off Road Premiums. Also have a little more headroom without the moonroof!

I don't know about your area but in SoCal it's very tough to find a TRD Off Road (not a premium, I didn't want the softcrap interior) without a moonroof. Plus wanting a specific color (classic silver) AND KDSS made it even more difficult. When I started looking there wasn't a single 4R in North America (at a dealer) configured the way I wanted it nor were any in allocation. I finally got lucky when Toyota decided to build one (only one!) and was even luckier when my dealer was able to talk an east coast dealer out of out. Congrats on your TRD Off Road with the wonderful cloth interior and no moonroof (love the extra headroom!). Hopefully you will put that rear locker to use too!

I just commented in another thread on this. Yes, it is very difficult to find a TRD Off Road compared to the premium models around here as well. It seems when they do get them, they go pretty quick also. I didn't want the KDSS or the moonroof, so that was even tougher to find around here as it seemed about half or more have them. The Nautical Blue was a bonus for me, I love the color.
