I thought I would give a review of my new 2024 4runner TRD Sport after a 2200 mile trip. We left San Antonio with 560 miles on the odometer I set the cruise for the speed limit and was surprised how well it did going up and down the hills of Texas and the mountains of Colorado. We averaged about 20 mpg by the dash. The engine was about 2100 rpm at 75 mph. On our return trip we were fighting high winds approximately 35 -40 miles per hour in New Mexico and Texas to maintain 75mph the transmission was in 4th gear spinning the engine at about 3100 rpm, and fuel mileage dropped to about 17. The 4Runner was heavy enough to not get blown around except for very large gusts. Visibility was great and the seats were very comfortable. I have made this same trip in the 2022 Tacoma I traded in for the 4Runner and this trip was so much better. I am looking forward to going to New York in a few months.

Congrats on the new TRD Sport. Did you do any mods prior to your trip? We plan on going to California from Colorado this summer and I'm paranoid of rock chips on the paint and windshield .. I've never owned anything this new before :D

The dealer put on clear paint protection on the front grill painted surface, hood, and mirror caps. It is like $450 I hate it when I bought is but I loved it last night when I was washing the bugs off. I think I killed every bug in between Colorado and Texas so you should not have to worry about them. I think the seats are perfect so you can kill the miles and not be sore.

We came from a 2013 Honda CRV that we bought new and has 324,000 miles on it now after many trips from NM to Pennsylvania to a 2022 4Runner. The 4runner is so much more comfortable than the CRV. Gas mileage on the CRV was always around 30 plus mpg, the 4runner around 20mpg. We have a cottage in Pennsylvania, so, we make the trip from NM to Pa at least once a year, sometimes twice. About 2000 miles each way.
