One-at-this-price stripper. Bought new 34 yrs ago, a $13K leftover. Added Detroit TruTrac, 1”rear spring spacer and “pinstripes”… Factory AC kit and roof rack bought at dealer cost at time of purchase, still blows ice cold 32yrs later. 2022 AG ORP all stock.
    Good stuff…still built in Japan.

Looks good to me. If the powertrain proves itself, I’d say it’s a win.

We'll see if it stumbles out of the gate like the new Tundras with all the wastegate failures, panel alignment issues, rattles, etc. I have ten+ years and 200,000+ miles in my 2023 to go before I circle back and see how the 6th gen proves itself. I'm counting on you beta testers to work out all of the bugs with Toyota this next decade. Thanks!

Japanese parts instead of American made like Tundra. Technology is lowering quality on all Toyotas right now and environmental issues the reliability.

You realize I hope that the assembly plant only does final assembly, paint, inspection, etc. They don't make the parts on site, which are sourced from all over the world. The US assembled Tundra still has a lot of Japanese made parts in it, and the Japanse assembled 4Runner can have some US parts in it. Both will also have parts from elsewhere in Asia, Europe, etc.

Toyotas built in America use American made parts. Wiring is probably made in Japan still, but they can build cheaper here than there. I read the Tundra is the most American made truck. It has most American made parts. Quality went down when they started building here. I believe the Tundra has 1000 different suppliers in or around Texas. In the end it's how good a job a person wants to do.

Nice of them to confirm in the first paragraph of the PR release. They know their customers well.

"The 2025 4Runner will be built in Toyota Motor Corporation’s Tahara plant in Japan and will arrive in the U.S. in the fall of 2024."

Yeah now they share platforms they are built in the Lexus plant. Now Tacoma, 4runner, Land Cruiser are all related by commonality of parts. I think 4.0 with 6-8 speed transmission and 4.33-4.88 would do everything better and in the mid 20s mpg. You could actually tow then, but alas it's about size of CO2 pump now not economy or pollution. BBC is worried about climate change more than anyone I have ever seen.

The parts label on mine said 100% Japan. Even the Dunlop tires on it say Made in Japan.

Valid point. I doubt any port-installed options count against the origin label.

I know they have had to stop production several times for weeks at a time. It may be materials acquisition or lack of in Japan. They have no natural resources. They may be shipping them out and finishing here. Most Toyota accessories are made in China and they don't get along. China shut down Japanese car production years ago with supply of natural resources.

Well they have to be PDI Ed when they arrive at dealer and that's where a lot of accessories are installed. They don't ship with everything on them to limit damage, theft or whatever.

Because it’s was made in Japan. The TRD Pro package is just port installed to make the Trim level linked to the VIN unlike the regional packages the regional distributors do i.e. XP package.

EDIT: Well that turned out like crap...oh well. You get the idea.

It will potentially have a few hiccups, I think the electronic waste gate will likely die soon after in favor of the vacuum style. Lots of transition happening. Soon it will just be the new normal. My one complaint is the 75" LG tv on the dash. It just won't age well.

    Digital stuff never does.

This remain's a classic however after 50 years. And you can replace it. :)
