I think it turned out quite nice. Mud doesn't stick to it like crazy and no peeling (hopefully). Seems spray paint technology has come along way since I was younger. Primer, paint, and matte clear coat. 20240413_151223_HDR.jpg 20240413_183600.jpg

Those wheels look so good black, I like them better than the TRD Pro wheels. Good job!

Rustoleum self etching primer, rustoleum automotive matte black paint, and rustoleum matte clear coat it's quality stuff. Plus I way over estimated how many cans I needed so I returned like 60$ worth of paint to Lowes. 3 coats of each maybe 4 of the clear only used up 1 can of each.

I definitely like those rims better in black rather than silver.

Report back in a year on this thread and let us know how the paint holds up.

Results look good. I was looking at the duplicolor bronze wheel paint. I’ll look into rustoleum stuff.

If it chips it's an easy fix though.

Blacked out badges, window deflectors, smoked 3rd brake light. I have a Borla muffler on order as well as some color matched engine cover stickers. I'll be painting the stock wheels soon as well. Falken tires in the fall as well.
I did my SR5 stock wheels a similarWheels after three years.jpg way over 3 years ago. Minor touchups here and there but they are holding up really well. This is a recent pic.

    Those look fantastic!

Yeah, my stock OR wheels already have needed some clear coat touch ups here and there. If you off-road, they’ll all get scratched and chipped. The stock wheel being only clear coat will hide damage better, but quick touch ups with clear coat don’t seem to make damage look much better.

I think a black wheel with touch ups will probably hide damage better than a touched up wheel that has the factory clear coated finish.

Did you remove the tires before painting?
