    I'll start:

I own a 5th gen and will keep forever... but I will honestly start saving now for a 6th gen to buy in 4-5 years so Toyota can work out the bugs and plus we'll get a better picture of how the I4 i-force holds up. We all already knew what to expect and oh boy did Toyota over-delivered. I really want one so bad!

However, I would probably go for a ORP or Pro... and most likely hybrid although unsure of that since I do spend a lot of time in the really cold mountains. If there is a color similar to Lunar Rock or some sort of aqua/teal type of color I would love that. Already got permission from Mrs. Engineer90 so I am just looking forward to the future!

    Oooh look, another mod.....
I'm lobbying Toyota to bring back the VooDoo Blue color. If they do, I'll buy whichever trim it's offered on.

I would love that one! But I would still stick to my guns and go for a ORP or Pro.

But knowing Toyota though they'll just offer it in the upper trims.

I'm keeping my 5th gen but if I were to get one it would be the trailhunter. I mainly do camping/overlanding with medium difficutly trails and some desert off roading but the Pro is overkill. Trailhunter would suit my needs more. I like the new Everest color the most too.

I've always like the alfa romeo green and if there was one in that color that would be great

speedway blue is the best toyota ever had, sadly it was only on the tacoma.

cavalry blue is probably the best blue on a 4runner

I have one ordered/on waitlist. Off-road Premium. I’m in love with the Everest color, but I also don’t want to wait a year to see if it drops to the lower trims. Currently settled on Heritage Blue, would also consider Solar Octane. I want my 4Runner to pop.

Supersonic Red would be clean as well, however I don’t see myself in a red vehicle.

i wont put in a formal allocation reserve request until i see what FIO and PIO are available and then decide. waiting for what i want isnt an issue. heck we waited 10 months for our 23 platinum tundra.

put in the request in 5-may-22 and we didnt drive off the lot on the platinum until 23-feb-23.

had to go back in aug-2022 to confirm it was ok to convert our 22 request into a 23 MY

    but officially i will get

1st choice : FT 4WD HV platinum in heritage blue
2nd choice : FT 4WD HV platinum in silver
3rd choice : FT 4WD HV limited in heritage blue
4th choice : FT 4WD HV limited in silver

the choice between platinum and limited will be very dependent on how much chrome comes on the platinum vs the limited.

otherwise, mechanically you can get the limited optioned exactly like a platinum, only minor creature features are exclusive to the platinum which are not deal breakers.

    key mechanical is

FT 4WD (standard on plat, optional on limited)
locking center diff (standard on plat, optional on limited)
no 3rd row (exclusive to the premium HV models)

I thought I read the full time 4wd on the limited won’t have a center diff lock, and that you need to go platinum to get the center locker. Toyota apparently made a less capable FT system for the sole purpose of upselling. What are the chances you can get a center locker without a sunroof?

I like the look of the limiteds a lot more than the 5th gen limiteds. It looks tough and slightly buttoned down at the same time. The wheels are a problem though.

The Pros and Overlander look very cool the longer I look at them, but sometimes too cool is a little too over the top.

Hopefully the OR strikes a nice balance. Heck, the SR5 might look good too.

My fear is that Toyota will put on horribly inset wheels on SR5s so that it looks like a Jay’s Potato Chip delivery van, solely to embarrass potential buyers into the higher trims. Heck, the extra wide flares may have been done more to make an SR5 to look bad, than to make the pro and overlanders look buff. ;)

from what i read you center diff lock is an option on the limited but you have to option it out just right to.

just verified, you have to get FT 4WD and HV option to get the center diff lock on the limited (those options are standard on the platinum). if you get the non hv ft 4wd you dont get the center diff lock

Is the center diff lock an option on non-hybrid platinums?

Jeez this is complicated and annoying. A 4runner with a FT 4wd without a center locker is dumb. I can hardly believe toyota would want to break everybody’s balls on this, but they apparently did. Sigh.

I’m looking to trade my 23’ ORP in for a Limited b/c the full time 4WD the limited has will be much better for the area I drive in. Constantly changing areas of dry to wet/slippery to ice/snow traction and manually putting it into and out of 4WD or forgetting to was not ideal.

plan was to put a deposit down for a limited as soon as I can.

Now after the release I’m not so sure. Might just trade in for a 24 Limited or just keep what I have and deal with it.

seems like the 25 Limited if you want the full time 4WD it only comes with Iforce-Max hybrid engine. Also the front of the all the new 6G’s look too elongated for my liking. Will need to see in person I guess

the 25 Limited does look nice than the 5th Gen Limted though

most likely i will get the following option codes:

DK : owner portfolio (leather pouch to hold your manuals, its a hidden option code you can select in dealerdaily during allocation, usually $7-$10 cost to the dealer)
RB : automatic running boards (unless its standard)
    3P : paint protection film
MF L mudflaps (might have to go 3rd party since toyota likes to not install them if you have automatic running boards, rekgen probably)
    2Q or 2T : all weather liners

those will be the bare minimum PIO i will want, good idea is to look at the tacoma PIO list to see what carries over.

platinums only come in HV FT 4WD, there is no option to get a non HV 2wd version

its the same setup they did on the tundra, capstone only comes in HV 4wd crew cab 5.5ft bed

I'm picky about the size but a base SR5 in that Everest teal would be terrific. Depending on how it looks in person it could unseat that green posted above for favorite vehicle paint.

Now if I could get that SR5 with full-time 4WD and maybe in hybrid guise, that'd be nice but alas, Toyota said no.

I haven't seen all the colors yet but the only two possibilities for me are the TRD Pro or the Trailhunter.

But I won't be buying this first year model. For me will be 2nd or 3rd year. I also want to see how others build out their rigs before I do mine, so I can see better what works and what doesn't before I drop more cash.

For color, undecided. Love that Everest green tho.

So far, we only know five colors.
    • Everest
    • Mud Bath
    • Heritage Blue
    • Some kind of black.
    • Some kind of white.

ORP Non Hybrid. But I spent some time inside the Tacoma today and the entire car feels like a downgrade to me. Loving my 5th gen.

I always like a clean white. Storm trooper is a tried and true color pallet. I don't see red on the list.

Trim......I'm always one to mod to exactly what i want. But with the infotainment now i figure that's out of the question on the inside and only leaves outside. Probably one of the premium levels.

Whichever color has the biggest discount. Usually the oldest vehicle on the dealer’s lot because they have to pay interest on the inventory. They don’t make pink or purple 4Runner so can’t go wrong with any of the factory colors.

I was hoping the OP would have a list of trim options with pictures. :boink:

That said, probably the cheapest trim that has the options I really need.

Based on appearance; I saw a picture of a silver one with color matched fender flares, and I thought that looked really nice.

the only color matching they showed was a limited, which is maybe a tad out of your price point, not sure where your threshold is

i hope they maybe follow the tacoma and have some of the lower trims with color matched like the SR5 and Sport, you can see examples on the toyota usa website build page

I've often thought that a 4R in a pearl/metallic dark wine color would be nice.

It's going to be interesting to see where they end up with pricing. My ORP only listed for $42,××× in '19, and now it's just over $50K for the same thing. Assuming the prices jump a little higher, it almost makes more sense to get the LC250.

So you're ok with that turbo but not the 4runner? (edit: after reading your response on the other post, I see that you are ok with the turbo since there's no other option).

I mean, I agree those look better but at least be consistent.

but a comparable LC250 is going to be around 56k starting if you go with the 1958 or 65k for the regular LC250. the first editions are just way to much for the bragging rights at 76k and those prices are baseline, no options
