I want someone to put a tape measure on that 6th gen hood. Is it really as long as it looks in the photos?

I don't have an issue with the back window going into the roof like a 2nd gen, but I do have a problem how it starts way further up than the driver window. They should all start where the drivers window starts because it is best for visibility.

That B pillar seems unnecessarily thick too. Look at the 3rd gen back window, and then look at the newest one, the back windows on the new one look tiny. It's far from the greenhouse that earlier generations were.

This is another reason to dislike cars getting bigger, it makes them heavier, and that means the roof pillars have to be thicker for roll over safety at the cost of visibility. I think almost every complaint I have traces back to the size increase.

Finally realized what the strangely long nose reminds me of...

I suppose the longer nose might be due to going from 3 cylinders front to rear totaling 2 liters to 4 cylinders front to rear totaling 2.4 liters plus the hybrid drivetrain.

It's approaching clown shoe when combined with the larger appearance of the rear quarter panel due to the rear window design. Full side profile is the 6 Gen's least appealing angle visually IMO, especially on black fender flare trims.

the battery packs is what probably driving this for roll over protection with all that added weight for crush protection.

The nose does look so long. Look how short the rear window is as well! And the rear doors definitely look shorter. I hate the short rear doors on the Jeep Wrangler and Ford Bronco's. Short doors/entry openings make it difficult to get in and out of. Overall it looks like the passenger compartment is shorter overall. It's going to be interesting to see how much heavier this thing is with the hybrid driveline. I've hated the flares on the new Tacoma's, Sequoia's, etc. and they look just a bad on the Gen6. They are better when color matched but in black they are plain ugly. So glad I picked up my first 4R in January! I could see the writing on the wall and wasn't liking the direction Toyota was going.

Longer hood required to house more breakable parts underneath it. Just kidding. Look at the hood on the revised Nissan Frontier and it seems to be a trend...

I like the exterior, but they jumped on the 'let's put an IMAX cinema size screen in the cockpit" bandwagon. Blegh.

Although I generally like the redesign, I'm confused at where this slots next to the new Land Cruiser, was really hoping for the return of the manual, which at least would give it something over the LC. Sad-days.

Was hoping it would be retractable into the dash - imagine how that would have outdone the competition...

i do prefer the look of the mark 4 over the mark 2 though.

the mk 2 just looked too streamlined/rounded for my taste and the wing didnt look right in renders.

Hope that cat dims down and still provides shutting it off. The amount of light put off at night will be bright unless it has a built in feature to automatically dim.

I thought I heard in one of the review videos there's an option for a smaller 8 inch screen, but I'm not sure which trim those are available on. For those that don't want an IMAX in their face.

When I first saw the new Land Cruiser I was sad because it was 1.1 inches too short and .1 inch too wide- total deal breaker. But then Toyota released essentially the same vehicle but 1.1 inches longer and 0.1 inches narrower and that changed everything.

Because people who chose not to buy a vehicle like an LC250 only did so because of that minute size difference, and not any other reason like fuel economy or wanting something in a different vehicle category

it should have a day/night mode, our 23 tundra has it.

or you can set it to dark mode full time also.

we have our tundra set to dark mode full time.

also add, the center dash and MID screen have independent brightness settings if i remember correctly.

Beyond "looking modern" its probably a lot cheaper to implement than creating custom electromechanical dials (which are moved by software these days anyway) . And leaves room to add features in future via a simple software update.

LCD screens are a pretty mature technology. I see enough really ancient PC monitors in labs at my office and enough people walking around with 5,6,7 generation old iPhones to not be worried.

Seems the Tundra shares or upgrades features to the 4Runner. Good info.

well the 14in screen is the same size and looks as our 23 tundra, so i imagine it has the same settings. even the layout on the main display in the YT videos and the press release look exactly the same as our headunit in the 23 tundra.

the only thing i see better on the 4runner is that the 12in MID screen is has more config options than our 23 tundra platinum with the digital 12in screen.

also if its the same setup as our 23 tundra. you only get 1 yr of remote start/connect (this also gives you nav if you dont use andriod auto or carplay) for free then its $15 month after that.

if you want to see the head aches with pairing to a fob/profile go look at the tundra forum to see the issues.

took my about 1-2 hrs to get the wifes fob/profile paired and the homelink was a pita also.

It is mandated by the US government to have that feature so yes. Unless you live outside the US then I don’t know.

good thing toyota implemented a 2 stage start/stop via the brake pedal. on our 23 tundra, if you lightly press the brake pedal the SS wont engage and a little window pops up in the MID that says press brake harder to engage SS.

also have a button to turn off SS, but you have to do this after every engine off cycle.

think you have to go 1/3 or 1/2 pedal depression to engage SS

As I've consumed all these videos, I think I still like it. Maybe even moreso than how this design sits on the Tacoma. I wont be in the market for years so it doesnt really matter but I'd like to see it in person. I think part of the issue with the rear doors is an optical illusion. It looks tiny but a fair amount of the obnoxious fender flare is on there. Its not just the body colored portion that opens. I'm also withholding judgement until I see it, but I'm not a fan of what amounts to an integrated bullbar on the nose. Interior looks good to me, though pretty busy. They should have brought Party Mode back if they were going to add 47 new buttons

I'm so glad I pulled the trigger and just got the 24 ORP. I was afraid I wouldnt like the redesign, and I was right. Maybe it will look better in person, but that's being optimistic. This new 25 reminds me of the old school X-Terra or Pathfinder.
