Trailhunter and TRD Pro are both at the top, but for different things. TRD Pro is more geared towards fast overlanding and Trailhunter is geared towards actual offroading over rocks and real 4WD trails.

See toyota's website for more info on Tacoma for these models. 4Runner will be the same.

It turned out to be pretty damn close to what I was expecting.....and I like it!

Toyota will sell 100,000 units each year despite all the butthurt you've read in the first 7 pages lol!

Is it me or does it look smaller than the 5th gen?

Either way, I like it! I like the Taco and this being a SUV Taco I love it!

I like look of the TRD.. I had a 2007 FJ TRD and gives me nostalgic vibes. Also why I have a deposit on an GX550 OT.

Every brand and every model I've ever followed has the same story, some love it, some hate it, some wring their hands and swear off ever buying xyz again. For ever lost sale to previous customers who hate it, they make up for in new customers who like or love it.

Same as always. Butt hurt crew rolls strong.

Some things I definitely don't like but that's how it is with every vehicle. I definitely want one of these. Then add a few aftermarket tricks and she'll be good to go.

Yep.. sat in a new taco at the auto show.. just felt like any other modern suv / cross over….
Truck for enthusiasts mean close to the windshield, upright sitting positions.

a non enthusiat centric truck would be the ridgeline.. which is a Honda pilot.. has the same feeling as sitting in the new taco

    It's definitely longer.

Couple inches(?) longer wheelbase and 4.7" longer in total length from the article. Since I'm (reasonably) certain it'll match the new Tacoma in width I bet it'll be 77-78 inches in width. (last-gen Tacoma was 74.4", 5th gen is 75.8".)

Not a fan of that especially since everything else is pretty much trending towards full-size width of 80".

    almost but not quite

TRD pro is desert runs and fast off roading (think Baja)
Trailhunter is overlanding and slow off roading

Hmm, they introduced 5 new SUVs in the recent past. Even if it keeps up at 6% you increase, I think it is unrealistic that 4Runner will keep up with over 100K units sold per year. Some customers will go LC/GH/GX route, that would have otherwise bought 4R. They can not have 100K plus 4R units sold AND have enough sales for all other SUVs to justify their existence. And while GH, LC are well positioned, I just don’t think 4R 6th gen is.

it’s possible I am proved wrong and maybe I should not get so worked up until I know more in the official release tonight. Maybe it hits it out of the park and has the sales figures you mentioned over next several years.

Already have my plan of attack
    • Buy TRD Pro or Trailhunter
    • Debadge
    • Install aftermarket rack for camping/kayaking/snowboarding
    • Install aftermarket front bumper with winch
    • Install LED lights for offroading at night
    • Disable the tracking feature
    • Weathertech mats
    • Tell gf to reserve 3 week vaca days from work
    • Drive somewhere awesome

Well, given that it's body on frame and Toyota, people will definitely buy it. Not everyone has to love it though.

That front end looks like it was designed by a committee of Pontiac Aztek owners. :p

I bet it’s longer to house all the battery bs for Iforce max. Notice the rear leg room in back seat looks like a Mustang in the one pic

I think production will stay at the Tahara Plant at least for a year or so to work out the bugs - but ultimately it will end up in Mexico. You will know when you see the vins starting with a 3 ...

I'm liking the body shape of the new Landcruiser and the GX more than the 6th gen. Was hoping the 6th gen kept it's boxy rugged looks. Though I don't mind the 6th gen look, I am not completely in love like I was hoping to be.

Used to have an 07 Trail v8 and 2016 TRD Premium.

Love the look of the Trailhunter and TRD Pro here with 6th gen. Will see if she has more giddy up than the 5th gen which is why I sold it after only 4 years.

Loved my 4th gen V8 more than any vehicle I ever owned but sold to a more suitable owner.

Makes sense, the 4Runner is caatching up to the latest Toyota SUV design cues.

It will Throttle House reviewed the new Tacoma which has the same engine as we’re getting in the 4Runner and they said it has a lot of pick up. If you get a Pro you get the hybrid with the battery support which is like 450+ range torque that’ll be a ton of pick up.

The back rear windows near the c pillar looks weird but I guess they wanted to make it similar to 1st gen 4R. I guess it will take a few years to see how it is and the look to grow on us. We been looking at the 5th gen for 15 years lol.

Those batteries are heavy and putting them close to the center of the vehicle helps with balance and drivability.

Also protects them from the elements.

And spare tire and gas tank positions are in the way for the back.
    damn, that is sweet looking.
