The guy on YT, Automotive Press has some pretty good reasons for why that might not be the case. Though we'll find out later today officially.

It will be interesting to see some reviews that test this out to see how much and how long you can use the onboard battery before it needs to turn the engine on.

It looks nice, but not really sure where the 4Runner fits in the lineup anymore. Off-road options already include the RAV4 OR, LC, Taco, Tundra, Sequoia, GX, and LX. If you want something that is more of a road vehicle, you have the RAV4, Highlander, Grand Highlander, RX, and TX. Just seems like the 2025 4Runner adds nothing new to an already crowded lineup.

I agree with those who feel it is over styled and too busy. It lacks the balanced proportions of the 5th gen and is trying to hard. There will be as many who like all that. Maybe it will grow on me but I'm not digging it that much.

Nice to see a new gen 4runner. But I am slightly disapointed with the exteriro looks. It's nice but a little long and not much different than current gen. Inside looks drastically different.

Don't care for 4 cyl engine.

Hope it does well. For now my 2021 is a keeper until the new one grows on me.

I didn't come across which factory/country either. USA? Full capacity in Mexico, possible shared space in Tahara with LC/GX? Include me on that list, def deal breaker if not in Japan any longer. I'm wondering if the absence of any mention in the Forbes article was deliberately left out for initial consumption...

One-at-this-price stripper. Bought new 34 yrs ago, a $13K leftover. Added Detroit TruTrac, 1”rear spring spacer and “pinstripes”… Factory AC kit and roof rack bought at dealer cost at time of purchase, still blows ice cold 32yrs later. 2022 AG ORP all stock.
Styling that I don’t care for:
Corner of rear bumper looks out of place
    More squared off wheel wells
Gloss flares look like cheap aftermarket
    Larger wheels & ugly
Photo of rear seat legroom despite being nearly 5” longer?
Info Screen looks like an afterthought
Greater slope to windshield and back window size
More Buttons/switches/knobs on console to spill drinks into
    It’s bigger
Ugly front end compared to the 5th gen
Probably the hybrid won’t have folding type of rear seats like the 5th gen to produce a flat rear floor because of the battery.
    ————————
    Mechanical:
    More engine complexity
    Less ground clearance, approach/departure angles
    No manual lever for 4wd
    ————————-
    Like the colors

Is it just me or does it look like my kids would even have a hard time in the second row? They have plenty of space in the current gen.

I also hate the look of the A Pillar from the side view but if it made chips less likely in AZ I'd accept it. I swear I get a new one once a week.

Profile view has kind of an Xterra feel to it with the rise toward the rear end. Cargo area looks weirdly small, like it's a super-shortbed pickup with a shell.

Xterra was my first thought too! Definitely not feeling a home run with the design here, unlike the LC/GX. The 6th gen so far is a wait and see vehicle.

The new gen is okay I guess. At this stage of my life though, most of all it makes me glad I'm well past "have to have the new thing." You know, like paying $799 for a VCR back in the day. That's ~$1700 in today's dollars btw.

If it’s not Japan made all 5th gen go up in value and we can cash out and buy LC or GX if we are so inclined. at least that’s what I told my wife that buying 5th gen is not an expense, it’s an “investment”. :D Pretty sure she didn’t buy it but still let me buy it.

I’m surprised no one is talking much about that terrible A pillar on the 6th gen. I love the square-ish or perfectly angled windows in the 5th gen. It’s a 100% throwback to Gen 1 and it looks and feels really good to look at and be inside of. The 6th gen is just bizarre to me. It’s an ok and pretty much expected redesign all things considered, but all the charm of a 4Runner is pretty much gone. This one gives me 4th Gen Pilot Vibes

And an off roader with worse departure and approach angles than before? Weird, I would’ve imagined they’d double down in making it more capable.

Unfortunate. Luckily they did keep the Land Cruiser charming, but without the cool sliding rear window.

if only you have bought a few of them, kept in pristine condition and sold youd
I am cynical, but I have been saying that this is going to cannibalize 4R, seeing how close it is to LC. Same goes with Sequoia. It seems almost like they want a planned obsolescence for these two vehicles, by giving better options in their own lineup for very close price point.

Also think with interest rates higher people will move to the lower pricing options unless Toyota starts offering deals like they are starting to with the Tundras due to over supply.

I for one have always felt there really are no "unofficial" leaks or "mistakes". I've followed a number of new model releases and so many times things "leak" out early (just like happened with the LC250), but in reality, the manufacturer may be behind it and uses it to generate marketing buzz.

Now, everyone is primed to see the "Real" "Official" reveal this evening, someone just needs to find the link, I assume one of these may have it?

I'm confused. Is the Trail Hunter now the top of the 4Runner line rather than the TRD Pro? Is the Trail Hunter still a TRD Pro with all the Pro features but also with the added shocks, 33" tires, roof rack, rock sliders, etc.?

I have been on the dealer floor to see the new Tundra last month and I tell you there are not two straight lines on it and the panel gaps are comical. There has been a total loss in quality but a massive price hike.
