what would cause my cruise control not to work. the signal lights up on the dash when I turn it on. but when I push the paddle down to set the speed it doesn't work. I read your traction control must be on and I double checked it is on. I purchased this 4runner 3 weeks ago and want to make sure it's not something I'm doing wrong before I take it back to the dealer.

After you push the paddle down to set the speed that you want, does the "SET" light up under the cruise "on" light in the speedometer?

Make sure the parking brake is not accidentally set. It can be engaged and not light the dash warning light.

    ^^^ Good input @RumHamRunner73

I was thinking that there had to be a reason that it would not "SET".

The other issue might be that there is a minimum speed the truck must be moving at before the cruise will engage.

I am usually going 60 on the parkway when I try to set it, and it doesn't work. I guess I should take it back to the dealer to be looked at. I appreciate your all's input!

As @RumHamRunner73 said, make sure your parking brake pedal is fully released. If that is not the problem, then yes, you should take it back to the dealer since you have not had it very long. Good luck to you.

And make sure you don't rest your foot on the brake pedal while driving ;-)

If my parking brake is not fully released, even if on one click, it beeps at me and the warning shows up on the dash. So @17JOHPRI might have more than one issue if his is still engaged at all, causing the CC to not work.

have any of you heard of 4runners or any Toyota in general having issues with the air injection system? like I said I've only had this 4runner for about 3 weeks but after 2 days of having it I was experiencing a "shutter" in the engine. I took it back to the dealership and they showed me proof where the scanner was throwing a code "P0418 secondary air injection system". they replaced the air injector that day and I thought all was well. they told me "it was a very common problem in toyotas". but now that I have figured out my cruise control isn't working I am thinking I have purchased a lemon.. I paid 25,000 for this 2019 4runner with 70,000miles on it. I thought I got a great deal, but I've not even had it 30 days and am having these issues... idk what todo.

Did you have a pre-purchase inspection done by a mechanic?

Sometimes things do break or wear out on cars. It does not mean that you purchased a lemon, coincidentally all of this is happening. If you want to experience new, then I would suggest selling and purchasing a new 4Runner.

shew, I wish I could afford a new 4runner.. I have always liked them and stumbled across this one after searching for a new used SUV for almost a year. our family had grown and my Honda Accord wasnt cutting it anymore. i have my Honda Accord for 7 years and never even had a light come on the dash. the only thing we ever did to it was regular maintenance, oil, tires, brakes. so having two issies with this newesr 4runner so early on has really stressed me out.

If it sounds too good to be true, it probably was. Hopefully you can get it figured out. Is this an actual Toyota dealer or a used car dealer that sold you the vehicle?
