Hello. I recently upgraded from a 99 4cyl Tacoma into a fancy shmancy 2015 Limited. Regarding the factory luggage rack, is there supposed to be cross braces or is that something I need to add. Id like to toss a kayak up there. If anyone in the NH area wants the running boards, free. Looks to much like a mom mobile as is....

    Oooh look, another mod.....

First off, welcome aboard! And you're right, that is a fancy-schmancy soccer mom mobile. Those things are a dime a dozen in the daycare drop off lane. Now, about your question: Yes, the cross bars are something you need to add.

When I bought my SloRunner new, it has the rails, but not the crossbars. I asked the sales people and they said they all (except the Pro's, because they have a factory basket) come like that. There are a few guys on this site that have Limited's, and they made them look pretty sweet looking'.

@kmeeg @Harringbr99 Give this dude some tips on how to toughen up the look of his mom-mobile!

My Limited didn't come with crossbars. Don't know how much are those crossbars are.

No personal experience, but these crossbars seems awesome-

17in wheels and tires would give a little better look.

I added lift + 17in wheels and tires, it gave a really nice look to my eyes. My is pretty basic but some members have soo much better Limited builds if you search around.

… and the downmarket 4Rs are a dime a dozen in the high school parking lots. ;-)

OE cross rails are $100 (for two) and there’s some aftermarket options for the cross rails too.

I am 1000% lifting it and putting 17's with 32's and some serious negative offst, not messing with 285's, . I like my tires popping out just a fuzz... thanks guys

Crossbars are only included on some of the dealer option packages and are not standard.

    OEM part number is PT278-89170.

If you want to haul more than one kayak you would be hard pressed to get 2+ to fit on the OEM crossbars due to width. There are a lot of aftermarket options (Thule, Inno, Yakima, etc) that are a universal fit to the style of roof rails that the 4R has, and almost any of them are a better, if more expensive, option.

how much lift did you install? I was looking at the Rough Country w/ control arms but 3" seems excessive. I had 2" on my Tacoma w/ 31x10.5 15's. And the height was sweet. This, however is larger. With WAY more buttons to push. Thanks man

I have 2¼ front and 1½ rear lift. Here's the details of my lift.
