285/70/17 tire pressure

Just curious, for everyday driving, what kind of tire pressure is everyone running with their 285's? Thanks!

 

35 for me so far but still experimenting.

 

cool thx...I've been running at 33 psi, but I think I'm going to go up a little and see how it feels..

 

36 is perfect. This would increase mileage per gallon.

 

I have the 285/70/17 falken wildpeak at3 P, 117 load rating

 

P related....the lightest ones...I think they're 51 lbs a piece if I remember correctly....

 

I meant they weigh approx 51lbs a piece..... coincidentally on the sidewall it says max air pressure is 51 psi.....but it definitely says P285 there too so I presume they are P load which is the passenger rated?

I am running the Falken Wildpeak M/Ts, in the 285/70/17 E load at 44 front 38 rear. This may be the sweet spot for me, i have been adjusting the pressure the last couple weeks.

 

I just put 285/70/17 Nitto Ridge Grapplers on, and the tire shop set them at 40 psi. Thanks for the chalk test! I will be trying this this weekend. Oh yeah, they are load range C.

 

I've set mine back down to 32 in hopes of keeping the rear end in place when going around corners and accelerating cuz it can get a bit loose.

 

It is very much dependent on the tire brand/type/rating and weight of the vehicle as well. We run many different PSI's here at the shop depending on the rig. Our second Gen Tacoma is running 315/75R16 Falken MT01's and runs at 40F/38R PSI as this has been the best wear PSI we have found for it at its normal weight (when loaded rear goes up a few PSI). This is more than the same truck running the 315/75R16 MTR's with Kevlar and even more still than the truck running 285/75R16 Falken AT's. It will vary from rig to rig unless you weight exactly the same and are running the same tire with the same alignment.

 

the TRD wheel is 17x7" and 285/70R17 calls for at least rim minimum width of 7.5"
I know lot of people do that, it is safe correct?

 

P is Passenger rated. LT means Light Truck, biffier tires and thicker sidewall and deeper treads.
