Purchasing a 2018 TRD Off Road or TRD Off Road Premium. Use: Daily Driving in the City (Dallas) and as many fishing and hunting trips as my son and I can get in.

Premiums here have the TRD Wheels, Toyo Tires and it appears rocker panels with detachable steps. I've posted a link to the set up. Curious as to what they are doing here - does this buy you any additional clearance? Any concerns here other than paying for upgraded wheels/tires and spacers (safety or other)?

    Thanks, Hawg

I would pick the link. Personal choice only because it’s over $3k discount. Looks nicer as well.

I paid 36500 for an off-road premium. There are better deals to be had. Especially if you will travel for it.

Awesome and thanks for the pricing info. Regarding the lift - is this a 2" spacer set up or is this actually 2" of additional ground clearance? I figured this was a pretty common factory set up that someone might know the answer to. I can certainly measure this at the dealership. It is certainly nice to have these kind of choices!

My 2017 Off Road Premium was 39,000. After adding a slimline bumper, winch, 3" Toytec Ultimate lift and some other trinkets I was around 43,000. Mine also has KDSS, a 1,700 option, that yours does not appear to have. Your price seems a little high to me for what you are getting.

I didn’t see anything in regards to lift? It doesn’t appear to have any in the pics. Most dealers use spacers but charge suspension pricing. Your best bet is to get a lift and new tires afterwards.

I got new full suspension, new wheels/tires, sliders, bumper, full skids, all for less than the asking price on the runner that you listed.

Thanks for the info Daria - that is what I was looking for. The wheels and tires look great, but only if it buys me a bit more than 9.6" of clearance. Probably stick with the Off Road and upgrade later if I need it. Now to decide what color....decisions, decisions.

The price difference between off-road and off-road premium aren’t that much. The leather seats and carbon fiber trim is very nice. We found the cloth seats to be terrible so we only looked at the premium. Consider an off road premium but please find a dealer that won’t add on a bunch of bullshit packages and take you to the cleaners. They’re out there, but you’ll have to do some research. Hell, I’ve known people to fly into Phoenix to save thousands on their deals. I have a great salesman in case you want to travel.

I got the cloth seat off-road, it also has fake carbon fiber. There was a couple thousand difference in my area and I don’t have a preference between the cloth and softex. Cloth is more comfortable to me but softex would definitely be easier to keep clean.

Different regions have different configurations available so it might be worth traveling to get what you want. In my region, they all have KDSS and no sunroof. On the Toyota website, you can enter different zip codes on the build tool and see what is available.

    Hawg,

If I am going to spend that much money on a new vehicle, which I did purchase mine new, I would order it exactly the way you want it. Here in FL the trucks are at the Port here in Jacksonville. They pick out an Off-Road version in your color and add your options at the port. My ordered 2018 4Runner TRD Off-Road Premium took just over 2 weeks for delivery and I got exactly what I wanted. (Can see in my build thread)

Premium - has the Soft-Tex interior and Optional Moonroof and a couple other convenience type upgrades.

Off-Road - has the Cloth Interior and Moonroof is not an option.

I would also download the 2018 4Runner Brochure. Everything is listed except the special local packages. The SouthEast has the XP Package for example.

I knew I was going to install a lift on mine so I did not order the KDSS or the TRD Suspension.

    Hope this helps

Actually KDSS does compliment a suspension upgrade very well.

It probably does, but the KDSS Suspension is a $1750 option in addition to purchasing an upgraded Lift Suspension. I ordered the basic no-option suspension instead.

Thanks everyone, I ended up with a TRD Off Road Premium - dealer with best price actually had the exact color / features we wanted. We'll get a chance to go off road in Colorado before the summer ends. Since this will be my daily driver (Mrs. is demanding that I sell my Avalon) I won't be putting a lift on it. In our defense we do have an 81 bronco that has been partially rhino lined with a lift kit, ranch hand bumpers and mickey Thompson's - so we do have a beater that we use to bang around in. I am going to have to get used to all the 4X4 technology in this thing. So far, I am digging it.

they're a sweet rig to own either way... Congrats.!
