If you have been haunted by random squeaking when driving around that you can't quite figure out, I uploaded a video of me solving at least one squeak with the sound so you can hear if it matches:

I hope this helps some of you out there. This squeak drove me absolutely insane because it sounded like it could have been anywhere in the car when I was driving. Squeak from up front, in the back, high way speeds squeaking, and sometimes not... It was infuriating. For google search purposes (random 4runner squeak, 4runner wheel well squeak, 4runner splash guard squeak).

    Okay bye bye :)

Omg I love you. I just went off roading and I heard it. I kept telling the wife it sounds like a heat shield. I bet it’s that. Driving me nuts. Absolutely nuts. Thank you thank you thank you

Well damn! That squeak is very familiar to me… I had thought it was my bolted down drawer system. Spraying bolts with lube didn’t solved it. Had no idea something exterior is the cause. Will definitely have a look.

I posted about this elsewhere. But yes. Even new fasteners are loose. It needs some rubber washer in between to fasten tightly. It bothers me but livable once I knew what it was.
