Dobinsons IMS vs Twin Tube (GS) worth the cost difference?

    Just wondering if the IMS is worth the extra cost over the twin tube for woods trails and logging roads (no desert anywhere near me). Any input on how either hold up to winters in the northeast (or anywhere they use tons of salt on the roads)?

    And lastly, does anyone know the real amount of lift for the Dobinsons coils? The Dobinsons USA page and a certain vendor I've been considering list different values (and based on what I am thinking I want, that leads me to different coils for the rear). Looking for ~2" front, ~1.5" rear lift.

    Debating trying to find someplace where I can install them (I've only taken struts off a Nissan Frontier and did not have to mess with control arms to do so), only shop I could find nearby that does Dobinsons quoted me $12-1500 for install (unless someone can recommend a shop in Maine that is more reasonable)

    I went with the twin tube. Cost was a big factor. They used them for years and no one had any complaints.

    My lift has only been on for a few months, so no insight as to long term durability. To keep rust at bay, I had my springs and shocks coated with the same "rust check" inhibitor I have on the rest of my 4Runner.

    I have no complaints with the ride so far....

    Great info man! Have you use any other lift kit before such as 5100, 6112 or budget Fox or Icon? Would like to hear your comparison if you did.

    The twin tubes have worked well for 60,000 miles and 3 trips to Moab. I'd buy that set-up again. Very capable on the rocks. No leaks or excessive bouncing. Still rides nice. The one change I would make would be to get beefier front springs. I have C59-302's on it now, which would have given me the level stance I was looking for with the combined weight of a winch and bumper. But I did not account for the weight of the sliders and skids and the 4R still has the factory front rake. The heavier spring part # is C59-314, which I think will give me another inch of clearance. That would get it close to level. The rear suspension is C59-505 coils and C59-705 shocks. That set-up works very well for me. For the type of wheelin' you do, I don't think IMS is worth it.

    how have they handled on the dirt roads around moab or similar? Able to maintain normal driving speeds(whatever speed limit on dirt roads happen to be) without issue?

    Just got back from two weeks in Utah. Spent a week in Hurricane/ Sand Hollow and a week in Moab.

    Dobinsons with the twin tube shocks worked phenomenal! Way better than the stock suspension. We never bottomed out. What feels almost too stiff on the tarmac, was smooth and supple in the rough stuff. Soaks up big rocks with ease and was an absolute blast in the soft sand whoops.

    Able to easily drive at higher average speed than you could with the stock suspension. Never felt like we were even close to the limits. We didn't go nuts....as we had to drive 2K miles back home.

    The suspension kit was well worth every penny.
