Are 2wd and 4wd steering knuckles the same?

I'm repairing my runner after my passenger balljoints failed, I had to buy a new steering knuckle and I got it from a 2wd and it looks exactly the same except for the hub assembly it doesn't have splines for the CV axle to slide into. So I just planned to replace that hub with one for a 4wd, I called a shop in town asking if they'd press the new one in but he said it won't work. Are they the same?

Also can you replace the hub without damaging the bearing or do you have to replace both

Best way I find to figure these things out is to go to partsouq.com or a toyota parts site and search for the part for both applications and see if they cross reference.

Part number for a 1997 Steering Knuckle Right: 43201-35081
    https://toyotaparts.ourismantoyotaofrichmond.com/oem-parts/toyota-steering-knuckle-right-4320135081

Looks like it is for 4wd and 2wd...so not sure why you found one that is an oddball. This part is also the FULL assembly. Toyota lists JUST the knuckle for $8 less but it still looks like it has the same application list.

Look at the application list...did you get the steering knuckle from one of the vehicles in the list?
